MAC Tournament
MAC Tournament
BG gets the winner of Northern Illinois-Ohio in Cleveland on Wednesday. The upper bracket with the Falcons and Central Michigan appears much more kind than the bottom half with Toledo, Kent State, Eastern Michigan, AND Western Michigan. Having to play only one of those teams again on the way to another title is a nice consolation prize for having the second seed.

Re: MAC Tournament
I disagree on the bottom half being tougher than the top half. Central Michigan is clearly the best team in the MAC not named Toledo or Bowling Green. And if there's a dark horse in the field, I think it's Northern Illinois, they beat Toledo and they had us on the ropes big time before we pulled that one out late.AyZiggy97 wrote:BG gets the winner of Northern Illinois-Ohio in Cleveland on Wednesday. Kent State, I dunno, they just don't impress me much. I think they just caught us on a bad day. EMU I don't know much about but I don't remember our game against them being all that close, although they did have Toledo down for much of their game last week. WMU will probably lose their first round game against Akron.
Bottom line is, if we have to face Northern Illinois, then Central Michigan, then Toledo, it's going to be a long road to the NCAA tournament.

Interesting, I just happen to think Northern Illinois caught BG on a bad day: with the travel from the blizzard et al. The Falcons also seem to have good matchups with CMU, personnel wise.
FWIW, Eastern Michigan really should have won the game at their place. It took an amazing performance from Prochaska to pull it out.
*edit: CMU lacks a big post player which BG has struggled with in recent years.

Re: MAC Tournament
I totally agree!! I am glad UT beat CMU. True a UT loss would have given us a share of the MAC title but BG does much better when we run the court. We beat CMU, Miami twice, Ball State, OU twice. All those teams run up and down the court.
Toledo plays slow basketball and tough Defense. Outcome! We lost
Kent at Kent took the shot clock down to 5 seconds each possession and tough D and we lost.
WMU, slow offense, decent D, and we lost. Northern Illinois, same thing, slow offense and D and we should have lost. And don't forget the Evansville game.
Side Note: BG has lost only THREE games the past 3 years when we have scored over 70 points and have won EVERY game when we shhot above 50 percent. With an up tempo game you get easier shots and more points so I am very happy we play CMU in the semi-finals after we beat Northern/Ohio winner

With the snow melting and lots of moisture in the air and slightly warmer temperatures maybe FOG will develop and the Freaklings will have a fog day.
