Does anyone know if BG is expecting a sellout for Saturday?
Does anyone know if BG is expecting a sellout for Saturday?
Does anyone know how ticket sales and student seating has been going leading up to this game on Saturday? When I bought my tickets months ago, they told me on the phone they would try to sell and fill every seat in the house and would also be using the seats for this game in the upper south level. Does anyone know how things look for it to be sold out?
GO BG!!!

They most certainly won't take away GC's private little playground and baby sitting area to increase attendance!

Well, if it's any indication, this game is not blacked out of the Falcon Kids Club. Meaning, my kids can just show up and use their membership cards to get in. Big games they normally have you pick up a ticket, or you are blacked out. Neither of those things are happening.
Metz said it best last night... if it's not a sell-out, the marketing team should be canned.

It's hard to market something after a 17 point first half. Not saying the marketing department is doing wonders, but mediocre basketball creates mediocre crowds at BGSU. Combine that with a coach who doesn't make it a priority to recruit students and fans, and it is what it is. Attendance will always be an issue. It's part of the job of a coach at BGSU.
Re: Does anyone know if BG is expecting a sellout for Saturd
I mentioned this in another post...Fans are tired of watching awful performances by Falcon Athletics. Having two sports out of 18 that have been competitive in the MAC the last couple years is embarrassing (neither coach was hired by GC by the way). With the facility improvements we've had with football and basketball the last few years, we should be a top 3 team every year in the conference. I for one am tired of the excuses made by this administration for the lack of performance by our teams. If we want attendance to improve, then we may want to start winning games and quit blaming youth and previous coaching staffs for losing. Go to the MAC website and look at the performance of the different sports this year....how is it even possible to be this bad? Add in the fact we've been in the bottom 2 or 3 the last four or five years in the Reece and Jacoby cups, and I think its time for the AD to go. I still think the game will be close to a sellout, but if it isn't it will be another example of how fans are straying.

There is no chance we sell this game out. None whatsoever. The team has mailed it in, and everybody knows it. A bunch more of the townsfolk might show up for the aesthetics of this being Anderson's last game, but I bet student attendance won't see any spike at all. (In fact, isn't this game on the first day of Spring Break at BGSU? If it is, then student attendance will probably be WORSE than an average game)

Yeah, when I picked up my student ticket the other day they said they still had plenty due to spring break starting. This game will not sell out, Any guesses on what attendance will be though?bgsufalcon24 wrote:There is no chance we sell this game out. None whatsoever. While I do not expect a sell-out, I do expect the attendance to be pretty good. Yes they are putting the bleachers down in the balcony for this game. They were taking down the Above the Rim Club after last night's women's game. I disagree the team has mailed it in. Are there times when they don't play well? Yes there are. The hustle from the team is still there. As to the marketing. Do you expect the coach to do everything? Bowling Green has always been notorious for front running fans. When you win everything is fine and dandy. When you don't, well ... I've been watching this program for a very long time. Season tickets to Falcon Basketball have been in my family since the day Anderson Arena opened. There have been many ups and downs. But through it all I've been coming to see them play. And that is not going to change. I will be at AA on Saturday cheering on this squad of Falcons. Everyone, try to set all the disappointments aside and come out to AA so we can send this grand old place off in style.

I agree this will not be sold out. The mens team has just disappointed too many people this year.......

Again, this is a team with no senior starters and one that graduated all their significant post players from a year ago. This team was picked to finish near the bottom and after all is said and done may end up hosting a home game in the MAC tourney.
We all knew this was expected to be a rebuilding year, so who exactly did this team dissapoint this year?
LONG LIVE THE MONGOOSE!!
Re: Does anyone know if BG is expecting a sellout for Saturd
Calling this a team with no senior starters is a little stretch. Joe Jakubowski started for 3 years and 26 games before forgetting how to play basketball and not playing in the 2nd half of his own senior night. So yes, we currently have no senior starters.
Re: Does anyone know if BG is expecting a sellout for Saturd
Jakubowski got a lot of starts this year ONLY because he was a senior who had started for 3 years. He played less minutes and was far less effective than Crawford for most of the year. Even when he was starting he was a starter in name only.guest44 wrote:Calling this a team with no senior starters is a little stretch. Forget the word starter.
This team has no senior contributors. More importantly the only players who play major minutes on this team that did last year are Dee Brown and Scott Thomas. All of the rest of the meaningful minutes on this team come from guys who either weren't on the team last year or played very sparingly.
This year was always going to be a rebuilding year. It's actually been better than expected...that's why I kinda want to see where Orr takes this group next year. If they flounder to mediocrity again, fine can him, but right now I see young talent and a team that could grow by leaps and bounds next year.
Re: Does anyone know if BG is expecting a sellout for Saturd
I'm by no means saying Jakubowski has played better than Crawford and or well for that matter. However, he did play 30 minutes a game as a sophomore for a team that was by far Orr's most successful. He scored 8+ points a game. To see him go from that to what he is now makes no sense. Did he basically toss in the towel? Orr says we don't have leadership. How could a guy play PG for 3 years and yet not be good enough to see the floor before Kraus or Erger on a 20 loss team in crucial minutes at the end of a game? Do you think Orr even realized he didn't play in the 2nd half on senior night? He forgot Calhoun against OU until the 3 minute mark foul trouble or not.
Re: Does anyone know if BG is expecting a sellout for Saturd
This game is not about the team. It's about the arena and about BGSU. Almost kind of sickened me that the ticket office had to send out an e-mail today about getting tickets for Saturday's game.
If Saturday is anything less than a sell out, everyone in attendance should get first dibs on seats for the opener next year.
