I have thought on more than one occasion that there is some, what?...justice isn't the word but some reason that may not be apparent to all that BG decided to play Howard in the first Stroh game. I can picture some of the yucks he and I would have over that one.

My non-Falcon hoops memories include:
Being a part of the first ever Junior Falcons program 89-90, playing at halftime for BG City Rec basketball, staying after games with Jon Larranaga (as fulch mentioned) sometimes for hours playing, graduating high school, master's graduation ceremony, Jim Larranaga Basketball Camp when they were experimenting with a video screen up in the corner, shooting and missing a 3 pointer at halftime after getting use the toilet in the Falcons' locker room, watching from the BGHS bench and then going up the ladder to cut the nets as we advanced to the Div I Sweet 16 in 1996, attending O.A.R. concert in 2001, getting to do P.A. for a BGHS-St. John's game that I believe featured Joe Jakubowski for SJJ, and all of the times when I would be gone from BG and make a point to just walk through the buliding and soak it all in.

I have the Chicago live at Carnegie Hall (Chicago IV) vinyl box set and it has a tour book in it, Anderson Arena was listed. I'm guessing that would have been right around 1970 or so. Is that the show you guys saw??

No, this was in the late 70's or early 80's. I'm thinking that it was around the time that "Hot Streets" came out which was '78.

Well, since we didn't meet until April of 1978 (through WFAL), that would definitely be the right time!

Wow, DD, your list puts mine to shame. I can't believe I forgot our HS graduation was at AA. Embarrassingly, I threw my diploma instead of my cap in the air at the end of the ceremony, and I believe Bryan Joseph returned it to me. The basketball camps were awesome, and I remember getting 1 on 1 attention from Mark Iavaroni, pretty special for a 13 year old kid. Jr. Falcons was also amazing, and I remember Derek Kizer and Clinton Venable coaching me. I believe the OAR concert was the first (and one of maybe only two) time we saw them together, and maybe the night you first met BNB? See you tomorrow!

One of my best memories is playing intramural basketball games in Anderson Arena. I loved the shooting background in Anderson. I remember Falcon point guard David Greer was a referee at one of our intramural games. Afterwards, I stayed and practiced shooting three pointers and Greer rebounded for me. I also took a basketball class as one of my physical education credits in Anderson.

One of the coolest things I ever got to experience as a teenager was one time after a game my father packed Colin Irish, David Greer and David Jenkins into the back of his Chevy Chevette with me in the front seat and we went to McDonald's.

Dad and I also went into the locker room after the games quite a bit and it was really neat to get to know a lot of the players and their families.

Colin Irish's dad was totally awesome! Maybe it was just because I was much younger, but it sure seems like the talent we had back in those days was so far superior to anything in the MAC these days that it's not even funny.
