And swap the current goalposts with the old school "H" style posts, but have the padding around the bottom peel off to reveal brass poles at halftime...hammb wrote:Beer Vendors.

Get someone with some experience to do TRAFFIC CONTROL. I sat in line at one game for 10 mins (on Wooster St heading West, trying to get into the Doyt). Finally the guy in front of me, and several cars behind me just pulled across the street and parked in shopping plaza lot - FREE!
The University lost income and in my opinion and looked amateurish because there is no good traffic control.
It's just do what you want as you want.
Take charge of it.
Go to tosu or some other places to see how its'done efficiently.
I love the idea of a Bronze Doyt. This must get done.
Lots of other good ideas too. Keep up the good work fans.

You're kidding, right? How much money did you spend at the game that you couldn't afford to go to one of the restaurants for a sandwich or something? Ticket costs range from $8 to $15, parking is $5...and you spent too much? If you went to the bookstore tent and bought several expensive sweatshirts or something I might buy it...but what could possibly be more reasonably priced than BG football?bgsufan1972 wrote:Many people go out to eat after the games. Yeah, BG is probably the cheapest place in the country to see good football and hockey. I especially can't stand it when people whine about $7 being too much for a hockey game. We aren't running a franchise, but we certainly aren't running a charity...

Ya know what would make life MUCH better? A net behind the uprights, at least in the North endzone. W/O a net back there, every time there is a TD, the band gets a ball hurled in their direction at the same time that they're playing some forward falcons. Really, what stadium doesn't have nets back there. Its also a problem before the game when the kickers are practicing, and some of the instruments are just sitting there as targets. Thats all for now, jeff

I've thought about thhis for a while, usually while I am comfortable tailgating on the East side and see I-75 Southbound backed up.Falcon Commander wrote:The University lost income and in my opinion and looked amateurish because there is no good traffic control.
The university should direct southbound I-75 traffic (people coming via the turnpike) to exit at SR 582 and come into town on 25, then enter the pay lots via Mercer road.
This may seem like a bit longer and might not save a lot of time, but for one I always like to keep moving instead of sit on an exit ramp. . . .

Seriously though...improving the look of the stadium is not going to get more fans to the game. Less money is not going to do it either...where else can you see a top 25 team that inexpensive. There needs to be a way to create some enthusiasm and excitement that makes folks want to be there. There needs to be more promoting of the game and maybe ways to promote more tailgating. Banners, signs, posters, "Omar for Heisman" stuff, "the best team in Ohio", I don't know what it is because I am no marketing genious, but Geez...I hope they start using some of that marketing ingenuity to make folks feel that the game is the place to be.

So many valid points....my biggest gripe? Lack of Trash cans for TG's. I hate seeing all the trash laying around after games.
Class of 61 helps that cause bringing used mulch bags (GREAT idea, Den!).
More porta johns would help, too. Nothing like having to go with brats grilling and there are lines!!
Other than that, I agree about bowl banners, a net behind the gp's and others mentioned here. How about covering those trashy bleacher seats in the north end zone like they did for the band section? Those things are so worn out but the seats where the band sits look much better.
Cost wise, NOBODY can compare to BG! The price paid to watch a top 25 team? I'd pay $30 a tix for our 4 season tix if I had to.
Marketing better get cracking...ONLY 234 days til the opener in Madison.
GO FALCONS!!

The best idea here is probably the ATM machine. It's so obvious.
But if I had to name one a priority in the survey, I would say the concession offerings. It has improved over the years, but it could be much, much better. It doesn't need to be fancy -- no need to serve pinot noir -- but variety and a sense of place would be nice.
Landscaping is a continuing interest for me... but I think the Sebo Center will lead to improvements here.

I might also suggest - - - they have thousands of people driving No and So on I 75; and they have property right beside it, seems like an excellent place to do some - almost - free advertising!!
I know they have put up a Football scheudle on a home made looking billboard but, it seems like a natural opportunity to promote more of everything out there, at a minimal investment.
Anyone remember the "Orange You Glad You Go to B!G" promo a while back. That seemed like a professional deal - very catchy.

They should put one of those up where they have that billboard near 475 outside Perrysburg, but change it to say "Orange you glad you're leaving Toledo?"Falcon Commander wrote:Anyone remember the "Orange You Glad You Go to B!G" promo a while back. That seemed like a professional deal - very catchy.
OK. Here goes! (I don't know what is being done currently along these lines so don't crucify me, if I overlap.)
The Athletic Dept. needs to organize with the IFC, Greek Life and other socities and organizations that alumni particiapted with when they were at BG to develop a marketing agenda that would draw alumni from those respective organizations to football games.
Each organize would be required to have a tent in "Tent City" that must be maned by a certain percentage of that active organization. The goal is to draw alumni to the tent to partake in various activities. This will allow the organization to market the alumni while increasing traffic for football games. The alumni will want to stop by the tent and either party with or just meet old friends. Awards will be given to the organization that had the most involvement at halftime.
Here's a rough example.
As part of All-Sports points fraternities and sororities have to organize and fund this tent. Actives solicate alumni to come visit and party at their tent. Food, beverages, entertainment is provided by the fraternity. Greek Life goes around and awards points and prizes to best tent. Meanwhile the alumni are stopping by and getting information on how their fraternity has been doing and become more active (donations) in what is going on. Actives would be required to call alumni and get them to come. Maybe instead of getting some stupid call at 7:30 on a Sunday night form the university asking for money, you got a call from a current student from the organization you enjoyed that just said, hey we don't want your money but we would sure like to see you and your family this Saturday or next Saturday. If you have kids we would love to see them.
Tent City looks cool to me and I think we should go with it and try to expand on the idea.
The university has cracked down on Greek Life and in my opinion fails to see and take advantage of the positive opportunities these organizations offer.
