You don't suppose Mr. Wexner would want his $100 million returned? I would if I was him, even if it did go to the OSU hospitals.

As a falcon fan and a buckeye fan I'm not going to turn a blind eye as many others have. I'm a rules are created to be followed, as crazy as some might be, they are are not made to be broken.

I will say don't stand in such judgement of other programs.........if MAC schools drew more fans and had larger athletic budgets you might be surprised what is in their closets..............things happen in the MAC just like the BIG 10, SEC, PAC -10, ect, never becomes known or a concern to the NCAA because the MAC is not a national power.

He was a walk-on at OSU when Earle Bruce was head coach. Tressell was his position coach (I believe).

He did his JD at UT.

OSU fanatics need to realize that he is not responsible for this ugly incident. As others have stated, he was letting the coach know about inappropriate activities of some players and expected the coaching staff to clean up the mess. I can't fault him for the coach not acting upon his concerns.

If 85% of the Blackeye nation weren't so sanctimonious about how their program is above all the crap in the NCAA, the reaction wouldn't be so severe. I'm not saying MAC programs don't have issues....but things have been brewing in Cbus for a long time.

But MAC schools DON'T draw more fans or spend insane amounts on athletics. That's part of the point. Somewhere down the line these schools made a decision to let the dog wag the tail and not the other way around. And unless you have special knowledge of MAC infractions that the NCAA doesn't know about then you are merely speculating. If you are aware of unknown MAC violations(giving a burger to Blane?) please post them here. Otherwise you are just another apologist for a program that has made a mockery of NCAA rules.

Listen to 610 out of Columbus the day after the press conference for about 20 minutes on the way home I did not get the impression there was much sympathy for Tressel. The only thing I got from it was that some calling in did not want to speculate further making it even worse than it was.

For the first time I felt like buckeye fans felt they had egg on their faces and they were not happy with Tressel for causing it. Some openly called for his resignation. This issue may cool the love affair with Tressel and possibly osu football for awhile.

I think the greatest fear is that there is another level of embarrassment - the AD and possibly others knew and were as guilty or more so than Tressel. They need the AD clear until the tournament he chairs is over because he could become a real distraction for osu and the ncaa.

And on a side note our friend/foe Tek has not even come on to defend this one. His silence speak volumes - I can't imagine he is happy in the least with this situation.

I was listening to 97.1 The Fan and was shocked with how the commentators were going after Tressell. No partiality the day after.

Evidently Kirk Herbstreit had enough of the Wal-Mart Buckeyes and has moved to Nashville.

I was thinking the same thing. Every time I log on and see there are new posts, I expect it to be him. But, anybody with half a brain can see there's really no defending this one.

I find it sickening that a guy who bleeds buckeye blood has to move his family from the area that he loves because of these types of fans. And No, I'm not a Herbstreit fan by any stretch. I just think these fans should be ashamed of themselves and their assinine behavior. :vom:

Teke never posts here anymore- I doubt that Tressle's F***up is the reason he's not posting now. If you think that would stop him you haven't been paying attention.

Coach Tressel has increased him own suspension from 2 games to 5 games after the NCAA upheld the players suspensions. Tressel knows he is in hot water. And it is only going to get worse once the NCAA does its own investigation. 5 game suspension means he will miss the Big 10 opener at Nebraska. And he can't even be in the stadium. Wonder if he will find a way to call plays from a cell phone. TV networks should ban their games from tv during these 5 games if they are smart.

With his 5 game suspension, can he still attent practice with his team? I think he shouldn't have any contact at all with the univeristy. I wouldn't be surprised that Smith knew about everything, and that Tressel is falling on the sword, but that's just my opinion.

+1.

This quote from Kirk:

"Eighty to ninety percent of the Ohio State fans are great. It's the vocal minority that make it rough. They probably represent only 5 to 10 percent of the fan base, but they are relentless."

I would think it was the other way around. At any rate, that is a real shame he had to do what he did. I like the guy and think he does a great job on ESPN...he is not biased at all, IMO.
