Clarke and Rorie done

Lost to a lower ranked team. Bad news is Clarke scored 2 pts in the first 3 quarters. Good news is he scored 15 in the second half.

Rorie scored 2 in the game which is likely his season average.

Enjoyed checking this Timken-Glen Oak tourney game live at Canton Civic Center. Coach Orr (given our loss earlier in the day) watched the two Trojans/soon to be Falcons from the stands. When he walks in, the fans take note.

Jehvon Clark was completely hamstrung by two quick foul calls- one when he literally picked a guy's pocket- and then a third early in the second. So he saw about five minutes of action in the first half. In fact, the way the game was called (not horrible officiating- just the way it was called) really hurt the ball hawk trapping of Timken.

As the poster notes, Clark put the team on his back in the last six minutes and tried to bring them back with 15 points while playing with four fouls.

Clark is very quick and very fast. He is a stronger than most HS guards (including good HS guards). Hard to judge his outside shot in this game. He hit a three. He attacks both ways- on defense and on offense. Aggressive player who involved teammates.

Rorie blocked several shots and altered others. Good wing span. Had one impressive put back. Also had some foul trouble so no report on offensive moves. Missed two foul shots wide right. Gets up and down the court fairly well. He needed to on that team because they get out and go.

Rorie's wing span is 7' 3"...We need to work on a 1-3-1 zone with him out on top and Black down low. A wingspan like that would be tremendously disruptive in the passing lanes. Michigan State ran that defense with Magic up top and Jay Vincent down low back when they first won it all and it gave people fits.

Everything about Rorie says he is a project. It might be interesting to see what everyone thinks when they have actually seen him play.

He is a project. A long limbed big wing span project. Who can get up and down the court and jumps pretty well.

He will need to be developed, but I saw flashes. He will not- in my opinion- come in next year and play. If he works out like another project in the post- Otis Polk- we will have a good player. Otis was a true project guy.

Clarke? Tough kid. A basketball player for sure.

This exactly my #1 main concern with him as well! You're 6-9....in HIGH SCHOOL....and you average that low??? If he played blindfolded I would still expect a better ppg average. It's also concering because we need guys who can score now as well. I love hearin about all the upside he brings, but I still can't get past the almost nonexistent scoring average. If he was 5-9, or 4-9, or 3-9, I would still be saying the same thing. The center on my high school team was only 6-3, averaged double figures, and he and my team stunk. I guess we'll have to wait and see.
