The issue here is that we don't know what Christopher's standard is on evaluating coaches. What exactly does it take for a coach to be let go? One losing season, multiple losing seasons, multiple mediocre seasons, NCAA violations, attendence, intagible elements about the "direction" of the program, etc.? A situation to look at would be Nothern Illinois. Their recently dismissed coach came in at the same time as Orr, racked up 4 losing seasons, ruffled some feathers in the Chicago Public League coaching community and that was the ballgame.
I would imagine that with the Stroh Center and the Frack donation, the performance expectations would be raised from whatever they were in the past.

I would also guess that two individuals speak with Greg Christopher about their feelings on the status of the program and play into his considerations.

Can this be confirmed? He would then be 7'0"?!?! When healthy earlier this season he was playing well and hitting the glass. I don’t think he is quite on Zeke Marshall’s level, but pretty close.HoopsFan wrote:Cam Black grew about 2 inches this season (honest, from his mother's mouth) so he has "growing pains", pun intended.HoopsFan
Orr desperately needs Cam Black to have a solid year next year. I don’t see how Orr survives if the team has a year like this year again

He's nowhere near Zeke MArshall's level and Zeke MArshall isn't that good. 2 for 13 today, for example.

After a long, hard day at work, its nice to come on here and get a great laugh! Thank you for that Drumstix2388.
Thank you for some commen sense ZuluWarrior. That was much needed also. Im glad someone else realizes this instead of trying to use that championship as the reason Orr is such a great coach and should keep his job. Nate Miller, along with a few other timely MAC meltdowns, won that championship for us. But you can only carry a team so far and then we fall back into old Orr form and get bounced from the Tourney.ZuluWarrior wrote:Larranaga and Dakich at least gave us some super quality wins...Larranaga gave MSU their first loss ever in the Breslin Center and won at Kentucky and may have had a couple more. Meanwhile Dakich gave us the best season in my lifetime with 99-00 and was absolutely robbed by the selection committee. Orr one a regular season championship with Dakich's team and to call it a championship is absolutely stretching it to the limits.
And others may say otherwise, but I support this program! I just want competitive excellence. Not .500 MAC basketball.

Re: Now is the time
Since we've never won the MAC tournament, getting bounced from it would be the Weinert, Larranaga, Dakich and Orr form...
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.
Re: Now is the time
That would be correct. So let me say we fall back into true Ore form and get bounced once a single player can't carry the team anymore, hence the past 2 seasons, and soon to be the upcoming season. But we'll be good this upcoming season! (Even though Crackron, Kent, Western, Miami and OU are returning a lot of starters and are all going to be really good also). One of the sophmores or juniors from this years team is just going to all of a sudden stand up and decide he wants to be a team leader now!Flipper wrote:Since we've never won the MAC tournament, getting bounced from it would be the Weinert, Larranaga, Dakich and Orr form...
