The Ypsi fans are ECSTATIC! I spoke to the three of them yesterday and two of them plan to come to the next WNIT game. Bob had to plant tulips or he'd be there, too.

Toledo wins another game over the 7th place team from the SEC.

Their reward...now they get to play the 10th place team from the SEC.

I hear if they win this one they get St. Ursula.

EMU beat UNC Wilmington tonight, 63-54, and moves on to play Syracuse. If ut and EMU win this next round, they will face each other in the quarterfinals.

Good for the MAC!

Cue the Toledo conversations of "Rockets big WNIT run > Falcons first round NCAA exit"

Outside of that ridiculous argument, this is great for the MAC. This is further proof that we were a very strong conference this season. Had Eastern Michigan been playing this well earlier in the season they would've been in the at-large discussion along with Toledo and Bowling Green.

I doubt any serious Rocket fans would make such an argument (unless they were just trying to provoke a reaction), since the NCAA bid was always the #1 goal.

That being said, the chance to watch our seniors play 3 more games on their home court is a pretty darn nice consolation prize. Beats a set of steak knives, anyway.

As much as it pains me to say it.....I have been an EMU and UT fan since the tournament.
-MH :-) Here's hoping one of them continues a nice run AFTER the quarterfinals :-)

You all don't need us to make all those arguments (although as JC notes, we wouldn't make them anyway). You all are doing just fine by yourselves. Methinks the ladies doth protest too much! ;)

Eastern has come a long way but have tough game ahead. Toledo should get by Alabama but ya never know- at any rate it looks like a huge crowd is in store tonight. Coach Cullop bought up a bunch of tickets and gave them away to the first hundred fans in line, plus all students get in free. I guess the line snaked all the way up the stairs at Savage when the ticket window opened and people had waited for hours. We've had some decent crowds so far (don't believe the posted attendance numbers-they're low) and tonight should be a great atmosphere. Just wish we were at full strength.

Congrats to UT and EMU for advancing in the WNit. It is good to see the MAC doing well in post season just like Kent State men's team. I have really enjoyed watching Melissa Goodall play the past four years and I think she was fortunate to be on the MAC Tournament team as I feel there were others that could have been selected but last night she made a comment that I took as a slap in the face towards BG and I lost all my respect for her. She was asked by a reporter how good it feels that she gets to play one more game in Savage arena. And her reply was that she is happy to be playing when she knows another teams season just ended and they are not sitting back home. She made her comment with a smirk on her face and I know and everyone else would have known she was talking about BG and to me it was a cheap shot. I still wish UT and EMU well for the conference but I lost all my respect for Melissa from that comment.

A very serious Rocket fan told me this very thing yesterday. Member of the fan club and season ticket holder. Were they trying to provoke a reaction?...I have known this person for a long time and I can tell you they weren't. They absolutely believe it.

I agree, that if you don't make the NCAA tournament, there is value in playing and winning a couple of WNIT games. But, ask any player or coach and they will tell you that they would much rather be playing in the NCCA tournament.

If you had asked that same fan on the morning of the semifinal vs. EMU what his or her hopes were for the weekend (win the tournament and go to the NCAA or lose and go to the NIT), the answer likely would've been different.

Maybe it just comes down to what ">" means. The greater accomplishment? A greater experience for the fans? Something else? Obviously reaching the goal is a greater accomplishment than not reaching the goal, and nothing that any of the coaches or players have said has suggested that the goal was ever anything other than a tournament championship and NCAA bid. On the other hand, it's no doubt more fun for UT fans to be able to see three more exciting home games than to be sitting home. And that's not meant as a slap at anyone, just an observation.

I would have thought more than 1300 fans would have shown up for a home NIT bid. Regardless I do hope UT wins this evening.

You would have been correct- in spite of the announced attendance there were about 2,000 at each of the first two games and 3,700+ were announced tonight as the Rockets rode Melissa Goodall's (yes, THAT Melissa Goodall)inside dominance to a fifteen point win over St. Ursula-errr, Alabama. We get St. Ursula next if they get by the Little Sisters of the Poor.

Thanks for the good wishes GM!

Fixed it- Rockets will play game number four at home irregardless of who wins the EMU-Syracuse tilt.
