The Athletic Dept. needs to organize with the IFC, Greek Life and other socities and organizations that alumni particiapted with when they were at BG to develop a marketing agenda that would draw alumni from those respective organizations to football games.
You need to get their current members to games first. I hate going to Toledo and seeing fraternities coming in groups carrying their letters. My brother's fraternity (here at BG) didn't go to the Marshall game because it was "Too cold." I don't know that in my three years here at BG I've every seen a fraternity here make a concerted effort to go out and support any of our sports teams. Makes me sick, too, because it seems to me that fraternities/sororities should be one of our great bastions of school spirit.

It is not my intention to do away with government. It is rather to make it work - work with us, not over us; stand by our side, not ride on our back. Government can and must provide opportunity, not smother it; foster productivity, not stifle it. ~Ronald Reagan
Bleeding you are on the right track, and I agree with you. I beleive this is largerly the fault of the university. They have to motivate them until the idea takes off. being in a fraternity at BG, I know first hand what apathy can do. Make it a requirement or offer incentives that would help generate the buzz. Ask your brother why he thinks they all go together?
Why do we need tv's to see the game, when there are plenty of seats to sit our rear ends in and view it live? while cheering and helping our team with crowd support...
Because sometimes I have to pee with my aging bladder or my son who has a bladder in training needs to pee. Plus, sometimes I get some tummy rumbles that Tootsie Rolls don't satisfy and I need to get some Skittles during the game. Sometimes I have to go get the food to pacify my wife or child, too. There are many more reasons why I leave my seat during the game, but I don't think you want to know about hemmoroids. While taking care of business, it would be nice to see the game. With a new video scoreboard, it would be rather easy to pipe coverage to some televisions.

You've never taken a leak or purchased a hot dog during a game?

...Or gone to "quickly" get a hot chocolate for a loved one and missed a whole quarter because a. they run out, b. the lines are long, c. the servers are slow, d. all of the above. . .
I don't know if this is feasible, but I would love to see them at least partially enclose the back side of the west stands. Build a big wall to block the wind and create an "inside" to the stadium. Just enclose the concessions & restroom areas...maybe even redo the concession stands as a part of that. It would give the stadium a facade and make the stadium look like more than stands in a field
MajorFalcon92 wrote:Not sure if anyone mentioned this before, but how about some TV's below the stadium showing the game?
Good!
and it can't be that much more expensive than what they are doing now. Just buy some TV's and run some cable. It isn't like a one-day job, but it isn't a huge undertaking either.
I think they should make some giant posters with some of our best players on them and hang them by the stadium. For example, next year have a giant poster made of Omar and a few other guys and hang it by the home stands so that it greets everybody as they walk in. I have seen this at other sports venues, most notably Crew stadium in Columbus. Also, they should get the shuttle busses working to haul people back and forth around campus. That way, people don't have to complain about paying for parking and hopefully more students would be enticed to go to the game since they would not have to walk.
Get the BGSU Band tomeet at the Parking Lot where the old power plant was and then have them march thru the middle of campus BLASTING Forward Falcons and AZZ out to the Ice Arena for their 'skull session' (or what ever FMB calls it) then to the Doyt - as usual.
WAKE them kids up, generate some excitment and show some SPIRIT!!
(now how many excuses are going to be listed about why they CAN'T ?)
Hell , have 'em march down Wooster street with police excort (lights and sirens, please) it's wide enough, now!
Sounds fine for me, except for little problem. A few years ago, the university put up big concrete barriers on Ridge St. between Overman and Hayes. While we can march through there, its just asking for problems. And for those of you who don't know, the FMB always plays a concert 2 hours before kickoff at the Field House. Some actual publicity for that might be nice too, because I really don't think a lot of people know about them. OK, see ya later, Jeff
