We are talking about the same UT that used to host its own bowl games, and would spend anything to get big teams to play it at the Glass Bowl. In the end, they are still NOT where they wanted to be. But all the best to them, make the rivalry seem more credible.

Yep- kinda like BG and the rest of the MAC. We just aren't having the Division II discussions...

One thing that people don't realize? UT may be putting in a high bid to host these games. They may be giving out free tickets and having the president break pay for tickets and they may break even when all said and done. But breaking even or even losing some money is a better payoff than going on the road and spending money on hotels, meals, and all other travel expenses. Could you imagine spending money on hotel rooms and gas driving to Alabama, Syracuse and maybe even USC (Flying). In the long run UT is making out just fine.

Plus they have won what is it now, 17 straight home games.

Still playing. And if the Blade's numbers are even close to accurate we are hardly bleeding red ink. We wil be solidly in the black and as you mention GM- paying 12,000 for a gmae is probably a cheaper way to go than traveling.

USC coming to Toledo-how crazy is that?

H20. Can you confirm this? I heard the elite 8, semi's and final's were 20,000 to host it. Even if you give away 2000 tickets, selling 3000 tickets at even 10 bucks a pop you still pull in 10,000 more than before you started, plus concessions and parking AND NO TRAVEL EXPENSES!

So now people will debate which is better for the program. A WNIT Championship or losing in the first round of the NCAAs. I will still take an NCAA appearance but others may choose differently.

I still favor the NCAA's but a WNIT title would be a very cool prize.

NCAA without question. But Wow, this has been a fun ride-mostly because of the home game thing. If we played four games on the road and won the whole thing it would barely be a blip on Toledo's radar outsside the 1,500 or so regulars. I don't know what the last few games cost us-I heard it was a silent bid-probably with a minimum. And there was NO parking charge. I'd almost rather have paid one and really built the coffers but the University has been really working hard to make it easy for fans. Plus the nightmare of Wednesday classes being held up by 3,000 cars stopping to pay for parking would be a consideration..
From a recruiting standpoint this is better short term, I think. show a recruit the big crowd going nuts, tell them you hosted USC, Auburn and Alabama because those schools couldn't drum up sufficient support - Well, that's pretty heady stuff. Long term though I'd rather say"Play here and you'll have a chance to play for the NCAA Championship during your career". BG can still say that I think-we're not there yet but I think we'll be better next year.

All of this coaching business is delaying Cullop's interview schedule.

It's possible that this run combined with Christopher leading the committee next year will help the MAC break out of the one-bid rut.

That would be great if it happened....this year, MAC Women's hoops was very strong and more than one team deserved serious consideration.
