Yeah, I know...but it was worth bringing up. Maybe it's true, maybe not. I didn't say I believed any of it...just posting what I saw.MarkL wrote:Anonymous posts by a username with a school-sounding name which berate the program mean nothing. See birdman. This is an unfortunate truth about the Internet. Anybody can publish anything, and anybody can believe it.

Just an FYI.....I heard Jeff Boals, Thad Matta's top assistant was ruled out at Dayton. He is now strongly considering Kent State.
Personally I think that would be a fantastic hire.

MVC has been a better conference then the MAC for at least a decade IMOGlobetrotter wrote:Well how long have they been in "a higher up conference then ours".BGFalconfromCincy wrote:Bradley is in a bigger city, has a bigger arena, and plays in a better conference, how does this prove we are in trouble?Globetrotter wrote:If Bradley is spending 5x more then us on a Basketball coach we are in trouble.
We are in trouble because of how much more Kent and other MAC schools are paying their coaches compared to us, not some school in a higher up conference then ours

Dropping football is pure heresy. D1 football is the crown jewel of any conference or university. Its a rare resource that needs to be cultivated. Without football, BG and the MAC are lost. Its tremendous exposure despite how some feel, whether its a mid week ESPN game or our OOC games against the likes of Michigan. And when we win, exposure for our institutions multiplies 10x. You could put 20 Nobel Prize winning professors on our campus and they wouldnt generate a fraction of the exposure our football program acquires, especially when it wins. Our task as alum and University admistrators is to find the right combination of people and process to leverage what we already have in place, not throw it away. The MAC has enjoyed success in the past and can again going forward with a few breaks. Case in point, the NFL's most productive players have a good showing from the MAC. Just look at the Super Bowl, there were ,what, 6 MAC starters between the Packers and Steelers? It will only take one team from either football or basketball to light the fuse and get us going in the national spotlight once again.
