Eastern Michigan fires Charles Ramsey

Article gives forecast of the kind of backlash we could see here if a buyout of our coach were to ever happen [and I hope it doesn’t]. I sincerely hope we can have a lot of FUN next year in the new building and we enjoy a renewed confidence in coach Orr. The alternative is a mess….

It sounds like there's a history between that particular trustee and the school president. Exposing the rift between those two is more damaging to the university than the 100K. It's surprising because most trustess are obsessed with their school transforming into the next George Mason or Butler and the residual benefits the publicity would generate.

Athletic director Derrick Gragg could care less about the overall operating budget and state aid distrubution. He's thinking about his own future and reputation, and Division I AD's earn their stripes by raising funds and filling high profile coaching positions. After the 8-22 season gave him an opening, he wants his bite at the apple for mens basketball. In the case of Orr, he was Christopher's own hire which virtually assures him another year.

Another coach fired at EMU? What a shock.

EMU revenue sports = fail

Be careful what you say 24. Take out our Women's championships and I believe EMU has won just as many championships as BG when you total all the numbers. Go back 10 years and EMU had a nice run in basketball. A few years before that went to two consecutive NCAA tournaments in basketball. EMU is hard pressed to get any talent because they have UM right across the street and yet they are just as competitive with BG. So with that said, what is BG problem. Kids choosing OSU over us??? Heck they are hours away from us, not 5 minutes. For as close EMU is to UM its no wonder why they struggle and why their fanbase is weak. What is our problem? What's our excuse.

Do you mean that EMU has as many MAC championships as BG in the last decade or in the history of the two programs?
