Or we could just divide the conferences this way:

The Birds:

EMU
BGSU
BSU
MIAMI
TEMPLE

And put the other 9 in the WannaBees

I gave you all Buffalo to help even out the sides (they have wings):

Birds: 28-47 in 2010

Wannabees: 42-46

Not much to be proud of on either side but as bad as they are the Birds wannabe Wannabees.

I wonder if the MAC would ever considering just dropping the divisions for all the other sports and only having them for football, I know thats what the Big 12 has done, pretty sure the ACC and SEC have done it that way as well, only use the divisions for football. You could schedule basketball and all the other sports the same way, but just not recognize the divisions

The only alignment which makes sense would be to split the football only schools. You can't send BG to the West because that screws up the even distribution for the other sports.

Temple in East, UMass in west.

Knowing some of the other decisions in the MAC office, putting UMass in the west wouldn't surprise me too much ...

Lets face it, it is another half-solution being made for the holy god of TV again. Damn the TV for once. Has anybody in Philly given a damn about the MAC since their loser football program stumbled into the MAC? The conference is turning into nothing more than resume filler for light-weight leadership aspiring to get out to someplace else. Nobody in Boston is going to invest in MAC football other than to wait for UMass to land in the Big East. The MAC has to get back to its roots, innovate with online coerage, and stop being a discount whore to sports TV.

We also have Conferences like the "Big Ten", "Big Twelve", and "PAC 10" without those numbers.

It's not about math or geography any longer. It's "what makes sense." What makes sense is still having 6 teams each division for the other primary sports [e.g. bball.] You should not realign the balance of the divisions for a part time conference school.

Splitting Temple and UMass is the ONLY thing which makes sense.

From a BG standpoint, I would like to see what they come up with a North & South division as opposed to us being in one division for one sport and another division for others. BG has already started in the East, gone to the West, went back to the East, and could be headed back to the West again, while everyone has stayed put. Then when Temple and UMass are finished wiping their feet on the MAC, BG will be moved back again. I'm tired of all the moving around, if things are changing again, I'm up for mixing it all up.
+1000. I do NOT want BG back in the West. Move someone else for a change.

Or, since UMass is the new kid on the block, make them part of the West. BG doesn't have to be the conf beotch all the time.

My thoughts exactly! We've been there and done that before! Let someone else do it! Especially for a newcomer who isn't even a full-time members! Why the hell should we be the ones moved, AGAIN?! Let them do it. If they're coming in just for football, let them shoulder some of the load. If you're coming into our conference, and for only one sport, YOU shoulder a little of the load with travel. They are already all the way up in Massachusetts to begin with. I am tired of being "the" school to be displaced when this conference makes a change. Everyone else goes along just as they were except for BG. That was my point years ago with UCF. They were in Florida! What difference did it make what division they were put in, every trip for them or their opponent in the MAC was a flight! But no, we got moved, they ended up leaving, we went from East to West to East. Forget that....
GO BG!!!

How about ...

AIRBORNE
BGSU Falcons
Toledo Rockets
EMU Eagles
Ball State Cardinals
Miami Redhawks
Temple Owls
Kent State Golden Flashes (they use that bird in their logo)

Grounded
CMU Chips
WMU Broncos
NIU Huskies
OU Snobcats
Akron Zips
Buffalo Bulls
UMass Minutemen

We keep our annual games with Miami & the school up North.

I LOVE Karl's idea!

It actually makes sense, not like the Big Ten's Leaders and Legends.

Would the Airborne Division have to rely mostly on passing while the Grounded pounded it out with big RBs?

bgsufn: Thanks. :)

H20 = that would simplify recruiting, I think.

Would that mean that the Airborne Division has to enter the stadium via parachute?
