Since we have had such a paper towel defense over the last decade, this is an area for us to be concerned. We are making steady progress with improvements in our D.
How will the Falcon wide outs fair?

Idaho's DBs
Re: Idaho's DBs
BG receivers should be a deep bunch with a decent amount of experience. Kamar Jorden caught almost 100 last year. He's tall, athletic, and a good possession type guy. He's also great coming up with a big jump catch. I don't know what his vertical is but it's got to be quite good. Adrian Hodges is a good speedy type guy and had a solid year in 2009. Eugene Cooper is our top punt returner and got in at receiver some last year. He's quick and elusive. Ray Hutson, if completely healthy, could be in the mix. He was in a lot of games in 2009 but had serious injury problems. He's not big but pretty fast. Shaun Joplin has the highest ceiling out of all of them with size like Jorden and very, very good speed and athleticism. There's a lot of depth with several good young receivers, including Beaurem and McKnight.

What is the word with trio of Siavii, Grymes and Patten? I heard the three of them are facing misdemeanor battery charges or something. Are they expected to play the season-opener?

It was an article in the Lewiston Morning Tribune back in January of this year (2011) - Three Vandals hit with misdemeanor battery charges ... players Kenneth Patten, Aaron Grymes and Robert Siavii. It went on to say it was from a fight in an Moscow apartment complex and there was a fourth person named who wasn't a football player. I wasn't trying to stir the pot, just wondered what the deal was as I believe all three are projected starters. Boise fans were saying how Robb Akey would sweep it under the rug.VandalBasher wrote:Where are you getting this regarding this charge?

Good work on finding this. I wasn't even aware of this. I will be the first to say we won't let a crime slide just to let a player play. Here is a link to the said info. We will all see how this plays out.

As for Akey, sweeping under the rug isn't his style. He set our program back by a couple of years by doing the right thing. When he came on board, he kicked 19 players off of the team which resulted in our APR being reduced. Please see link. We are now where we would like to be regarding schollies. See link.

As for Boise, I don't need to bring up how many players that have commited real crimes and still played on Saturday.
See you this fall.
