Yeah yeah yeah! All the soldiers involved should never have to pay for another beer in their entire lives.

Amazed this happened by hand in Pakistan! That took some balls. I would hate to have a drone do it-there's a nasty little part of me that is enjoying this very thoroughly and I suspect I'll inhale every bit of news about it for a week and read every book that comes out and I still won't be tired of it!

Yeah...that was likely not a mission those guys were going to get extracted from if it went south.

People are celebrating in the streets in front o f the White House...truly a great night for America.

Scary to find out the helicopter that took the team into the compound went down - this nearly became Blackhawk down - but a second was brought in as the team took care of the business at hand. A great day.

My guess is they jettisoned some dead weight from the copter in an attempt to remain airborn. Probably over the Indian Ocean somewhere.

The choice the President had was bomb the compound with several 2,000 pound bombs and risk obliterating the corpse and killing everyone for blocks or sending in troops and inflicting less collateral damage while getting definitive proof. The downside there is that if the mission is compromised in any way you lose 25 of your elite soldiers and perhaps miss your best chance to kill the SOB for months or years to come.

Glad I didn't have to make that call...although I agree with the decision that was made

Worked out better than the Iran hostage rescue.

Does anyone else find it a little awkward that we're celebrating in the streets the same way that those who hate America celebrated when we got terrorized on 9/11? I am thrilled that Osama is dead but I feel that throwing a party probably isn't the best way to go.

VDub - the celebrations on 9/11 in other countries were people celebrating a mass murder of innocent civilians.
We're celebrating the assassination of a mass murderer who killed thousands of our fellow countrymen and women and has been the top target of our military for nearly ten years. The mission to kill bin Laden and the security forces around him is nothing short of a great victory for our men and women in uniform. Feel free to crack a beer and celebrate in the streets in honor of the excellence of our nation's best in uniform.

Celebrating in the streets is quite appropriate. I hope he didn't see it coming like all of the victims in the towers.

It's not inappropriate to celebrate IMHO...but some of the people got a little carried away.
