This morning I read about his "self-imposed" five game penalty and almost spit out my Sausage, Egg, and Cheese McGriddle sandwich. The only reason he "announced" his additional three game suspension was because the parents of the Tattoo5 were screaming about the kids getting punished worse than the coach (although a player not playing in five games and a coach being fined $250K, well, let's just say that's a helluva lot of tattoos and gold chains that Coach Tressell loses compared to the players). And he did not even announce his extra games until after the appeal for the Tattoo5 was denied by the NCAA.

If they stick by the five game suspension, they should be for the Bowl Game, the Michigan game, and three other Big10-11-12 games, not the meaningless out-of-conference home stand. And I agree with you kdog - if you suspend him, then he cannot be at practice or anywhere near the Woody Hayes Athletic Complex during his suspension.

Does the Commissioner of the Big 10-11-12 suspend him (ala the SEC Commissioner and Bruce Pearl) in addition to facing possible sanctions from the NCAA?

I am waiting on the Attorney General to investigate him for fraud because their is over $20 million involved here (not just five players selling memorabilia for tattoos but bowl game money, season ticket sales, etc).

Interesting, I hadn't thought of that.

Check out these comments by Kirk Herbstreit ...

http://espn.go.com/video/clip?id=6426819

If I ever meet the guy, I owe him a beer. I can't believe I'm saying that because I've never much cared for the guy. His statements regarding the blind loyalty of OSU fans in this whole situation and the Pryor/Clarrett comments were right on.

Never heard anything negative about Tyrell Pryor (sp?) before this but then I don't pay much attention to non-
MAC schools. Was he a problem kid? I remember he did a LeBron James kind of thing when he signed his LOI but never heard anything else.

Terrelle Pryor has been ticketed three times driving three different cars, all belonging to a car salesman in Columbus, all loaners while his car happened to be in the shop. And of course he also is at the center of the tattoo gate scandal for selling memorabilia for tattoos. And apparently he was pretty much a thug in high school basketball games.

I knew about the tattoo thing but I never heard much "pryor" to that. If selling some of your stuff, getting tickets in loaners and being a thug in high school basketball games makes you a bad person, well, I'm probably going to be spending time with Terrel in Hell.

Just seems like comparing him to Clarett is a little over the top.

Different context than you're thinking of. The interview I posted was all about NCAA violations; both Clarrett and Pryor were high profile Buckeye stars who made dumb decisions as student athletes and found themselves in the middle of an NCAA investigation. Yes, to compare Pryor to Clarrett and suggest that he will commit armed robbery, get in chases with police, be caught with an assault rifle and an open bottle of vodka in his car, etc., would be very unfair. Not what Herbstreit was talking about ... he was just talking about these two and NCAA violations.

Tickets in loaners you were getting that a normal person could not get so you were getting them illegally, selling stuff that is technically not really your right to sell until you give up amateur status and fights in HS basketball games won't get you into hell but there is not reason to paint the picture prettier then it actually is.

OSU is now investigating the possible violations arising from the discovery that about fifty Bucky athletes bought cars from two dealerships that employed a certain salesman. Tickets to games were left by the athletes for employees of the dealerships, although not necessarily ones from whom athletes bought cars . Link is over on the MAC BBs and I'm too lazy to get it.

It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."
