Everett is terrible. Kearns pretty much the same.Warthog wrote:+1, or should that be +2?VDub26Falcon wrote:I hate Adam Everett...and Austin Kearns.
For the life of me I can't figure out why anybody would pay Everett. His once stellar range & glove are now gone, and he's always been among the worst hitters in baseball.
OTOH, I love Justin Verlander.
It's very fun to have a guy that you must watch all his starts just to see if it's the day he throws a no-no.

Re: The 2011 Cleveland Indians
When Jason Donald is ready, they better see about getting Everett off the 25-Man roster. I know Hannahan is tearing things up defensively and (surprisingly) at the plate but Jason Donald should be up here with him instead of Everett. Can Donald platoon at 2nd and 3rd like Everett was doing? I'd have to check out the Indians site to find out for sure.
As for Kearns, hell, I'd rather see Travis Buck in Cleveland than Kearns. I know it's another lefty bat but we have Duncan around to handle the left handed pitchers. Everett and Kearns are the weakest links on this team and they need to be Old Yeller'd. There is no reason we should have lost the rubber match to the Angels.

Interesting column by Verducci in today's USAToday on why there are so many shut outs in MLB this year.
Pesonally, over the course of the season, I enjoy crisply played pithcher's battles where every run counts. BUT, when I go to a game I love slug fests with lots of hits and HRs.
I find interesting the comment from the GM stating how teams are now more likely to put a good fielding light hitting player in the line-up as opposed to a good hitting defensive liability.

I'll be at the game tonight, so that's almost a gauranteed streak stopper.

Ahh, but I will also be there and I have ways of overcoming your abilities to end streaks.

I've decided it was the vendor that invited me to the game. He went again today.Redwingtom wrote:You at the game today as well?

Re: The 2011 Cleveland Indians
Rough patch for the Erie Warriors right now, 5-5 in the last 10 games. Hopefully having Seattle come in tonight for the weekend can turn things around a bit. No one is hitting, the bullpen has shown some struggles and Masterson was just not on his game yesterday. I really think the Indians will benefit from being in the Central and should finish the season above .500. Anything in addition to that will be gravy.

With the hot start the Indians have gotten off to I would imagine that they'll finish at or above .500VDub26Falcon wrote:Rough patch for the Erie Warriors right now, 5-5 in the last 10 games. And they play in a division where 90 wins probably wins it easily.
Going to be a fun summer

Not looking forward to playing the Tigers with Miggy AND V-Mart in the lineup...

They're clicking right now. V-Mart is mashing since he came off the DL. Actually it's a little funny that the offense is now starting to play well, and Miggy hasn't been playing that well the past week or so. The best part is watching Scherzer & Verlander mow people down.VDub26Falcon wrote:Not looking forward to playing the Tigers with Miggy AND V-Mart in the lineup...
Should be a fun summer. I expect the Indians will be in it until the end, Tigers should be as well.

I honestly think the west coast trip helped to "fry" the pitching staff a bit.... a couple of extra inning games where as many as 6 relievers had to be used... they're still getting solid starts for the most part, though Carmona had one bad inning that nearly cost them the game, prior to the 9th inning comeback. I think Wedge "blew it" for Seattle with the "by the book" subbing his "closer" (who'd just lost the nite before) for a guy who had the Tribe in the palm of his "glove" so to speak. Gosh! He'd have been over 100 pitches for the nite! And we all know that pitcher's arms now fall off at that level!
