Why do we have to look up to see bottom?

Post by birdman »

Low low can we go? Time will tell this time next year with a new coach on campus and AD things will look better. It's just getting threw another season with the current head football coach and the rockets going to a nice bowl. I only have six more years at BG and will be forty six. Time is running out on a winning season and I can't wait on any kind words from Flipper or Markl ( MarkL hows my kid?) :?:

I could tell you were a bit off kilter, but I didn't know you were into goats.

There are 40 threads on the first page of the football forum. Birdman has started 11 of them. That is a sure sign of a whiny little brat who needs attention. Folks ... ignore the little whiny irritating attention-needy child. Eventually he will STFU and look elsewhere for attention.

I love how easily Birdman irritates everyone so much on this board...honestly I think he brings up some good points about our football program, they may be over the top, but definitely not worth dismissing. I think this year will show whether Clawson and GCs, "blame Brandon" campaign has any truth to it. I personaly think we'll be looking for a new coach after this year...I just don't see our offense scoring enough points to consistently win in the MAC.

Given the APR issues and all the blowouts we had under Brandon, don't you think he has some culpability for the state of the program?

Had to post it somewhere, wise guy! Rather put it here than start my own thread about ignoring him ...

I think Brandon is absolutely culpable for the state of the football program, and that is the case whether Clawson ends up being a success or failure here.

I don't expect great things for this team this year. I do, however, expect vast improvement from what we saw last year, and I expect to see some signs that the foundation for winning is being laid. Last year was a disaster, and while I was a huge Clawson supporter, there were somethings that I really didn't like on gamedays.

I don't expect a miracle turnaround this year, but I'm hopeful that we start to see some signs. I think Clawson coaches the 2012 season regardless of the results we see this year, but unless we start improving I don't think 2013 is guaranteed for him.

As to giving credibility to birdman, I can't do that. Yeah, our football program looked like s**t last year. Yes, they need to improve on a lot of things to get back where we all want to see them. But birdman's schtick is lame. His butchering of the English language is inexcusable and as far as I'm concerned destroys any semblance of credibility he ever could have had. Having a serious discussion about football with him is akin to discussing politics with a 4 year old, IMO.

I always hate looking up to see bottom. It always happens when I finish off the last drop of wine in my glass.

Sad moments, those.

I can remember (barely) looking up from the floor at the bottom of a few tequila bottles.

I agree with hammb essentially...I think GB did some really good things here. I think he doesn't get nearly enough credit for the job he did in 2003 and 2004. The 2002 team closed pretty weakly and then the coach left. That team could have easily taken a step back, but they moved fwd and ended the year nationally ranked. In 2004, he then had to break in an new QB...and he coached that guy up to a 41/4 ratio and another bowl win. He did a pretty good job in 2007 (after going 4-8 in 2006) when the team charged back from a 4-4 start to get a bowl bid and a win over those douchebags on Bancroft.

Those first two seasons should have been momentum builders, but the recruits started flaming out at too high a rate to be sustainable and it became hard to deal with the academic and off field issues. I think the right decision was made re GB employment here...Clawson really needs to step it up. He and Timmah are the senior guys in the MAC this year. It's his team, his system and if things don't improve, his blame

If "Timmah" = Beckman then you could add up Clawson and his MAC tenures and still not equal Cubit's at WMU.
