How in their right mind does a manager leave a pitcher in to get 14 earned runs hung on them? He should almost file a grievance for that...LOL

He was already the third pitcher of the night and was the scheduled starter for Tuesday's game. At some point someone was just going to have to take their lumps out there. I see no problem with how the manager handled it. If Mazzarella can't get guys out, he shouldn't be in the bigs anyway.

...and he's not. He was sent to the minors right after the game.

Just to put some things about last night's game in perspective...

The Indians run differential last night (+18) was better than 22 teams in all of baseball for the whole season.

The Indians became the first AL team to get to 200 runs, and they've had three games post poned.

The Indians had their second 10-run inning of the season, matching the total they scored against Seattle on April 8th.

Carlos Santana saw 34 pitches at the plate. Indians pitchers only threw 107. Royals pitchers threw 209 pitches and almost 10% of them went for hits.

11 of the Indians runs came with 2 outs.

The Indians only hit one home run.

Royals pitchers threw more Balls (83) than Josh Tomlin's entire pitch count (81).

Basically, it was a crazy @$$ game.

The Indians had another great weekend at The Jake as they swept the Reds right out of town. Great heads-up baseball yesterday as they were able to get 12 runs. Asdrubal was just disgusting going 5 for 5 with 2 homers and 5 RBI. Indians are now a league-high 14 games over the .500 mark and are continuing to thrive even with Sizemore and Hafner sitting on the DL. Carrasco still scares the crap out of me whenever he takes the mound, but he's getting the run support.

Tough series starts tonight against the Red Sox with Justin Masterson looking to bounce back from a disappointing outing in Chicago. Clay Bucholz goes for the Red Sox and it should be a well played game. I said a few days ago to a friend of mine, if we can survive the month of May in first place, I like the way things look. Barring an 8 game losing streak and an 8 game Tigers winning streak, that should be the case. We do have tough teams to play this last week of the month but I think we'll be ok!

Still a ton of baseball left...but they are certainly where they want to be. Nothing aids winning like confidence.

Damn, you are a harsh critic. The dude pitched a complete game, gave up five hits, one run, two walks and struck out 8. If you consider that disappointing, I hope you get disappointed again tonight.

And if you expect anything more than what you've gotten from Masterson thus far on the year you're insane. The dude has been pitching out of his mind. Light years better than he ever has for his career, and much better than he ever probably will for the rest of his career. He's walking fewer players than he ever has and he's only allowed 1 HR. No way he can keep that HR rate where it's at now...but if he keeps the walks low he should be a damn good starter for them.

Still, he's vastly outpitching the expectations anybody could have had for him.

The Indians are playing damn good baseball. They remind me a lot of the 2006 Tigers. A mix of veterans playing better than expected, and a bunch of kids that don't realize they should be playing this well. Good for them.

I'm hoping the Tigers are able to play the Twins' role in that '06 season and sneak up on 'em over the course of the year :)

I'm sorry...I was referring to the outing against the Rays. I forgot about his awesome matchup against the White Sox...that was the tough-luck loss. My bad.

Thanks again from Detroit for Jhonny Peralta. He's been adequate defensively, but an .850 OPS is a very pleasant suprise....

He's playing out of his mind this year. I was NOT happy when they gave him a 2 year deal, but so far, I'm loving being proved wrong.

The Tribe is doing ok at shortstop without Jhonny.

No doubt about that. Cabrera has been damn good this year.
