I agree 100% about enclosing the stadium somehow. Even though you past the turnstile, you don't feel like you are at the game until you reach the top of a tunnel, actually at your seat. There is just a chain link fence there now. I think just adding some shrubs around the fence line would do it. It needs something to give you that "feel" of being inside the stadium other than when you are at your seat.Falcon30 wrote:I love most of the ideas here - very cool.
I don't know if this is feasible, but I would love to see them at least partially enclose the back side of the west stands. Build a big wall to block the wind and create an "inside" to the stadium. Just enclose the concessions & restroom areas...maybe even redo the concession stands as a part of that. It would give the stadium a facade and make the stadium look like more than stands in a field

My view is that BGSU had been very attentive.bgsufan1972 wrote:You know they send out all these surveys but will it actually do anything. NO!!!!!
We were carping about not having a video scoreboard, and we got one within 2-3 years.
We were carping about the sound systems at Anderson Arena and Perry Stadium, and we got both replaced within a couple of years.
We were carping about the pink rails, and they were painted.
We were complaining about black in the uniforms, and the logo review made it very, very clear that brown *will* remain part of our scheme.
I think the surveys have a real impact. I don't think they'd bother to spend the money if they weren't looking for good ideas.

I am glad they painted the railings. Little kids were pulling the paint chips off the rails and was eating it.
As long as it is not lead-based, what is the problem? You sure it wasn't you eating the pink paint trying to connect with your feminine side?

Championship years banner hanging on the back of the stands, visible from the outside and concession areas. Help dress up those concrete walls.
shrubbery, trees, etc. has been mentioned.
More garbage cans in the parking lots. We tailgate right across from the BP station, and though that's not technically a main tailgate area, there's always plenty of cars there, and nary a can to be seen. We had one, but it was gone this year.
A big board with that year's schedule on it. Christ, every HS stadium I've been to has one.
This one is soon to be moot, but I can't tell you how much I hate going from one side of the stadium to the other via the walkways in front of the bleachers. Have the traffic go behind them. Of course, the Sebo will eliminate that problem... I hope.

Whoa Whao Whao! Hold on a second here! I thought that this was a survey from the MARKETING department. Not the Facilities/Athletic Department/Horticulture departments. Marketing...You know...Advertising? I don't think our marketing department is going to have a lot of influence to get bowl banners, TV's, or ATM's in the stadium. They want to know what they can do to draw more people to the door. What are some events they can do to draw? What are some materials or promos they can do? I think the idea of getting the Greeks and other student associations out to the games in force is KEY! But even that I am not too sure about with regard to marketing being interested...
Marketing is going to want to know what they can do to get PAYING alums and townies to the game. I think getting on the air in Cleveland, Toledo, and maybe even Columbus would be great. Radio ads, Newspapers, Maybe even TV. We now have a few seasons of good things to talk about. The Wisconsin game needs to be hit and hit hard in Cleveland for the game at CBS. They need to reachout to the BG community and see what can be done to build support an presence in the downtown area to get people to go to the games. Work on the High School and middle schools to get people out there. Start some sort of "offical sponsor" of the BG Falcons with the local businesses. These are the kind of things I think Marketing wants to know about.
No Offense, but no one is going to wake up one day and say, "HOLY S**T! Look at those shurbs! I think I'm going to start going to BG Football games." I understand the need to make the Doyt look less rinky-dink. But that is not marketing's concerns. Tent City, ads, commericals, etc. Those are the things they want help with. I think the BGSUFalcons.com website should have wallpapers and screen savers for download. They should ramp up with the school and Omar for Heisman compaign. And I like the idea of the "Orange you Glad You're Leaving Toledo" billboard. We have a rivalry. It's pretty heated. Work off of it!

Motown,
Perhaps you are confusing Promotions with Marketing.
Promotions are about events, ball tosses, NASCAR driver appearance at games.
You don't think the marketing department, who works with many local banks on a regular basis, could work out getting at least one ATM to the stadium?
