Notre Dame considering joining Hockey East

Ugh. I would hate to lose ND from our conference.

"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

Not shocking, had to figure with the Big Ten teams leaving the CCHA, ND would be too proud to hang around with everyone else.

Big suprise....good bye attendence. Isn't it funny how GC represents all the schools for the CCHA, and the conference is falling apart? He couldn't run a Dunkin Donuts, much less an athletic department or represent a conference.

This would be a big blow to the conference ...it may be time for the left over schools to look at other options.

Agree. Hope the CCHA is looking at whatever options are possible. Someone posted on Facebook that the CCHA should look at joining the WCHA and forming a super conference with two divisions. I'm not sure how I feel about that, but it might be better than having more schools (ND and Miami, if rumors are to be believed) leave the CCHA.

Sorry guys, I just can't get too worked up about this. If ND wants to foot the bill for travel and to go out east and get their clock cleaned on a regular basis so be it. Heck, they dropped out of the league once before and the sun still came up the next morning. The CCHA needs to stay within itself, focus on quality programs, and make a title run every few years. As for Miami leaving ... if they want to leave, fine, but I just can't see a MAC level school footing the bill for additional travel. As Jackson said, the CCHA is primarily a bus league. And although hockey is big at Miami, football still calls the shots and gets the biggest piece of a limited pie. They can only dream of an ND level budget.

You're 100% right on this one. ND will not being able to compete as well in the East. If ND wants to leave, then let them, lets see how many of their fans support a program with a mediocre record. I can see why Miami would want to leave right now, especially since they have so much support for their program; but as mentioned above money may be the significant factor. Something needs to happen in the CCHA though, and soon, to boost the confidence in the good players we have coming to our teams, for fans, and for the life of the league in general.

Go BG!

With approximately 70 Division 1 hockey teams it's sad to see the recent transformation within college, most notably the new Big Ten hockey conference. I understand the premise in football of creating super conferences and championships games and BCS games. The landscape of football isn't really changed but with hockey you are potentially going to make hockey easier for administrators to axe programs with this larger schools forming their own league. We all know now Big Ten schools will be unwilling to travel to smaller schools, unless its a 2 for one deal. Smaller schools depend heavily on the Michigans, Michigan State, Notre Dame, and Ohio States coming into their bulding do to the fact those are the games in which they have the largest crowds. Heck, BG even charges more on weekends they play at the ice arena. We are entering a very uncertain period of not only conference play but hockey for MAC schools in general.
