Re: McElroy leaves the program.....
A lot of talk here about how McElroy leaving is Orr's fault. How many of you know for a fact that him leaving is purely Orr's fault and not an issue created by McElroy? To me it seems that the idea of a "mutual agreement" to leave is no more than attempt to save face and not create problems for both parties and the university itself. Putting this all on Orr is a sad attempt to blame someone when there is an extremely limited amount of information available. McElroy already had one strike as made apparent by Hdog, what's to say that this didn't occur because of his 2nd strike?

A rare intelligent post in the basketball forum. Thank you. Please post more often, sir.

Where have you been these past several years? This is yet another chapter in a sad tale. Orr is already gone but we are going to suffer for at least one more season. If there is a Falcon god, our AD will go out the door with him.orangeBGbrown wrote:A lot of talk here about how McElroy leaving is Orr's fault. Since when are disobeying team policy a reason for blaming the head coach? McElroy was a decent player, I get that. Was he a good guy? Sometimes. Was he a team leader? If you thnk so, but I don't. And looking at some of these people previous posts, team leadership was a major problem so if you think that McElroy was a team leader then I don't see why you care. Right now Coach Orr is doing right by the AD, following the rules and policies involved with the two strike policy. Do any of you remember Davon Haynes? So tell me which would you prefer? A semi decent post player that is a distraction to the team while he breaks team policy or would you rather have the extra scholarship? I would rather trim the bush, cut away the smothering weeds to build a stronger team. If this is Orr's fault then good cause that is what exactly needed to be done.Sub-Zero wrote:Where have you been these past several years? This is yet another chapter in a sad tale. Well said.
Sometimes I think we are guilty of thinking of BGs program in a vacuum. Our sights need to be set WAY higher with the level of talent [and quality of person]. Let’s face it; BG is a tough sell for recruits. I do believe the Stroh Center will have an impact in this area. I hope Orr can use it to his advantage and upgrade the talent and quality of our student athletes to more than what is here now.

Would you care to explain your comment "Orr is already gone" ? Guess I must've missed something over the weekend while driving back and forth for the state lacrosse championship game, started on Sat.nite, but finished on Sunday afternoon due to "weather issues"....i.e. lightning.
