I'm really baffled by how so many people cannot fathom hiring Tressel at BG. I think you are missing so much of what it could do for the school and the football team. And I am not just talking about wins and losses. We could represent what college football is meant to be and load his contract with all kinds of 'immediately fire-able' offense, like jaywalking, or talking to the AD, or not going to church on Sunday, whatever the heck you want. Make it clear up front that he will be under the microscope and NOTHING will be tolerated. We could show the rest of the NCAA how to run a program, if in fact we are 'holier than thou' as has been bantied about. He screws up, he's fired. He doesn't screw up, and wins then we benefit. What is the downside of trying to help a man save his career and legacy and trying to help our football team win and get a TON of exposure?

He's never been clean..not ever. He's a congenital liar and cheater. If you hire him you're essentially the world that you're whores.

No thanks....

I know that Ohio State is a four letter word in the Bowling Green fan vocabulary but all this talk of him "cheating" is really irking me. Has there been any charges of "cheating" in this whole thing? If there is, please fill me in. Hell, even Maurice Clarett came out in support of Tressel and said "It wasn't Tressel. It wasn't boosters. It was the players and their friends. Tressel didn't have anything to do with it." I'm paraphrasing there. It seems the only thing he did wrong was lie about what he had knowledge of. He was trying to protect his players as if they were his own children.

Call the man a liar all you want, but until you show me something I've completely missed, you can't call him a cheater. No over-practicing, no illegal contact with recruits.

He played players that he knew should have been ineligible all season long. That's cheating. Once the allegations were out, he then allowed said players to play in the bowl game.

He didn't allow anything. He was told that he was allowed to play the players in question. Tressel isn't the governing board of NCAA Football or the BCS. Even at Ohio State, people are innocent until proven guilty.

He still signed a compliance form stating he knew of no violations in August. The violations he knew of clearly made the players ineligible and he knew that. By signing the compliance form stating his program was clean, he kept "ineligible" players able to play, thus cheating.

I really don't care one way or the other. I'm just pointing out the point of view that had been missing.

That's a pretty low insult, funny, though!!

Article: "Terms of Tressel's exit nearly finished"
http://www.dispatch.com/live/content/lo ... ml?sid=101

This quote stood out to me: "The coach ultimately made that decision," Gee said. "I think that he realized that there was a tremendous amount of pressure. ... And by the way, Jim Tressel always said he would do what was best for the university."

REALLY? If that is considered "doing what's best for the university," then I guess this shows what kind of guy he really was.

And yet some individuals believe he would be the perfect coach for BGSU. #-o

I don't get you Globe. Your tag line is OSU sucks but you want to bring two of the schools dirtiest faces to BG? Help me understand that.
