Talk about the Buckeyes the Wolverines the Hilltoppers the Ducks the Beavers the Chanticleers... or anyone else who isn't BG or an opponent in this forum.

I dont want Pryor.

I dont think Tressell was all that awful.

I hate self righteous arrogant OSU fans much more then I really hate OSU and I am relishing watching them explain away everything that happened. My only problem with Tressell is that he sold wholesome and cheated.

So it's NOT all that awful that he lied (sold wholesome, among other things...) and cheated? #-o
THAT is why I find him completely sickening...touting yourself as a wholesome, Bible reading, character buidling kind of coach, then finding out what a complete and total hypocrite he was!! THAT pretty much says he was "awful."

It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

Exactly!!!!

I just can't abide by that level of hypocrisy...makes my skin crawl.

But I can see where this is headed for the Buckeye nation...Tressel will be viewed as a morally upright but flawed man who wanted to do right but couldn't due to the ultra competitive nauture of college sports (ignoring, of course, the role that the obssesive fanbase in Columbus played in creating that monster).

Most of the specific blame... and with it the hatred...will be directed towards Terelle Pryor.
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.

I agree with both of you. For some reason I don't mind what he did as much as trying to sell wholesome while doing it. The evangelical leader hooks up with the male prostitute thing.

There is hypocrisy there, I will admit it. But at BG I think that we gamble on people with warts with mega upsides. Maybe the selling wholesome thing does not bother me much. Great points, I will have to think about it more.

FWIW when I mentioned this as a possibility to my OSU fans this weekend they laughed it off as if he would never stoop so low....(I dont consider it as something that will really happen more so because I don't see our Athletic Department being that proactive about things).

+1. I wish reporters would say O$U won the BCS title in 2002. There is no "National Championship" at the FBS level.

Chip Kelly is about to be the next Tressel.

Boise State did it the right way. They admitted to screwing up and and that they had committed violations. The more you cover it up or stay quiet the worse it will get for you.

I can't believe they think imposing a 2 year probation on themselves and saying, "We no longer won any games last year" is going to satisfy the NCAA. If it does, then I'm all for doing the same thing here. Yes, they "didn't win" any games last year, but everybody knows they did. Big deal. Put some real sanctions on the table.

Are they trying to head off the NCAA with their own penalties? Is there more wrong doing going to be coming out?

The time to self impose was 4-5 months ago. It's too late now.
