"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

So you think if he goes 10-2 instead of 6-6 in his final year he gets fired?Flipper wrote:That's an assumption....I stated facts. He had 1 winning season in his last three and he had a losing record over that time. Dan Dakich had a winning overall record as well.

Dan Dakich was a loser over the course of his second run and had a Godawful final MAC season. It doesn't matter what I think would have happened...I know what did happen...

I think that it matters that you are overexageratting him as a winner.Flipper wrote:Dan Dakich was a loser over the course of his second run and had a Godawful final MAC season. It doesn't matter what I think would have happened...I know what did happen...

I think you're having a hard time admitting that our history and culture don't match your suppositions...

I think you need to look up a whole bunch of words...but that's another topic.
Anywhoo...saw on twitter yesterday that Clawson's APR is the highest in the MAC and in the top 15 nationally. Timmah up at UT is second..he's in the top 25 nationally. I like what Beckman is doing up there. I like what Clawson is doing here. I think they're both headed for bigger opportunities down the road.

Saw that as well, Flip. It is great seeing Coach Clawson's APR #1 in the MAC. Also nice to not see BG football players in the police blotter lately. The wins will come soon....Flipper wrote:I think you need to look up a whole bunch of words...but that's another topic.![]()

If they go 2-10 with the #1 APR again this year what do you think will happen?
Re: BGSU APR scores...looking sweet!!
People on this board with b*tch & moan. Meanwhile the sun will rise in the East and set in the West and I'll still be wondering how I'm going to pay that d*mn mortgage again at the beginning of the month ...Globetrotter wrote:If they go 2-10 with the #1 APR again this year what do you think will happen?

Re: BGSU APR scores...looking sweet!!
This is getting silly...there's little argument that can be made re what would happen to a coach who performed poorly on the academic side or the athletic side. Yeah..a slew of off field problems got a coach with a winning record here fired and a number of 2-10 seasons in a row (I don't think 2 would be the magic number, FWIW) would get a coach fired. Jim Tressel was God at OSU...a few months later he's dog...didn't lose a single game aong the way. We can theorize about where the balance between academics and athletics resides here at BG all we want. What counts is our history and what we demand from our coaches. History suggests that you can be a good guy with mediocre to poor results and still keep your job (Blackney 1995-2000). You can have some success and screw the pooch academically and get canned (Brandon). Don't know if you can do great on the field and stay with poor academics or have great academics and poor performance...neither of those things has happened.
I would hope that we would show more patience to the guy with the great academics because he's at least trying to carry out the primary mission of the University...that's educating our utes, IIRC. The guy who's sacrificing academics and behavoiral standards for results is thumbing his nose at the community. I don't want that person here... I don't want Luther Pruett from Marshall, I don't want Jim Tressel, I don't want Tom Amstutz....ultimately..as much as I appreciated his work here and enjoyed talking to him a time or two..I don't want Gregg Brandon here.
I'm a greedy bastard...I want academics and athletics. It's a difficult trick to pull off, but I think we can do it...Doyt Perry would want nothing less...

No discussion on the discussion boards! Only discussion can be had if we know exactly what the results will be!
