Recruiting BBall 2012

Post by Globetrotter »

I think both Clark and Rorie committed in August last year so we are not to ofar away from it being Bball recruiting season. I am a little dissapointed in our last class. Curious as to what posiitons we will be going after next year.

Right now we got...

1 Jordan Crawford 5-6 JR Jehvon Clarke 6-3 FR
2 Dee Brown 6-3 SR Luke Kraus 6-2 JR Anthony Henderson 6-1 FR
3 Scott Thomas 6-7 SR James Erger 6-6 JR Chauncey Orr 6-4 FR
4 Auston Calhoun 6-7 JR Craig Sealey 6-6 SO
5 Cameron Black 6-10 JR Torian Oglesby 6-7 SR Desmond Rorie 6-9 FR

After Next year

1 Jordan Crawford 5-6 JR Jehvon Clarke 6-3 FR
2 Luke Kraus 6-2 JR Anthony Henderson 6-1 FR
3 James Erger 6-6 JR Chauncey Orr 6-4 FR
4 Auston Calhoun 6-7 JR Craig Sealey 6-6 SO
5 Cameron Black 6-10 JR Desmond Rorie 6-9 FR

Talent wise I am pretty dissapointed in this recruiting class. Clarke looks pretty good but I am not sure the other 2 guys are Legit D1 recruits. Breaking it down, and I know this is arguable and premature, I think we have 5 guys that are All-MAC talent 1) Crawford, 2) Calhoun, 3) Black, 4) Clark, 5) Thomas; Three guys that are just under that in Brown and Sealy and Henderson who both could have enough talent to be studs but didn't see the floor for a variety of reasons last year, 2 guys who I dont see as much more then role players in Oglesby and Kraus and then three guys who are fringe D1 guys in Erger, Orr and Rorie. I hope I am wrong.

You're the first person I've seen who thinks Chauncey Orr is a "fringe" D1 prospect...I've seen him play on TV and he looked like a solid MAC guy to me. Why do you feel he's a "fringe" prospect?

2 things....and I may certainly be wrong about that.

1. He appears to have been recruited only to BG. His name is noticably absent from nearly any recruiting discussion.
2. From the BRIEF parts I have seen him play he looks limited athletically, quick but not explosive. I would love to see more of him, all I have seen is youtube stuff. So if you have seen him play then that could be wrong...it was solely off these 2 things.

Also Rorie is solely off numbers so I hope I am wrong there.

Count me as the second person. I've seen him play plenty of times. Given his size and skill set, I'd say he's more suited for D-II. Hope he proves me wrong and is the second coming of Anthony Stacy, but I have my doubts at this point.

Well after watching James Erger play in almost every game for 2 seasons, I would call him a D1 player at this point.

WH...I think he can contribute as an undersized wing...I don't see him as 2 though.
But, you've seen him more than I have...

GT...He's definitley not as explosive as this dude...

Ah...those glory days...anyway...bear in mind, he's only 17 and has quite a bit of maturing to do physically. Hopeully, he redshirts. On the topic of Rorie, I'll throw a schollie at a big if he has a chance to develop...and a really good teammate and brother I'm on as well... :-)

Where's the other team? And did you get to be the guy in the matching shorts because you could dunk?

Good points on Rorie. If you watch videos of Clarke Rorie stands out as an athletic big. If you look at his numbers he seems awful.
