DJ Young...and I'm keeping him at DL, not moving him to OL like MSU did.

Re: BGSU Player draft
Am I remembering DJ Durkin as being better then he was because he is coaching and still in the public eye?
Are there others on this list (Cory Partridge because his dad posts here and he seems incredibly likable) that we have over drafted based off similar things?

Re: BGSU Player draft
Oh I'm sure there are a lot of players that fit specifically in each of our memories for some reason or another. I'm not sure that Burkes & Dozier are 2 of the best LBs to play during that span, but I remember them both fondly, so I grabbed them.
I have a guy in mind who was actually a pretty good player here that is still on the board. I think I will take him if it gets back to me, but he probably should be off the board by now, but he had a pretty severe love/hate relationship on this board...and I was probably one of the more vocal "haters".
In the case of Durkin, I don't know if you've overrated him or not...he was a pretty good, albeit not great, player for us.
Partridge was a stud when healthy.

Love was Erin and hate was Shaun.hammb wrote: I have a guy in mind who was actually a pretty good player here that is still on the board. Gregg Brandon?
Joe Timchenko? (being serious now)
Even when he was not healthy, he had "it". He had a broken hand and was playing defense (CB or S) because he wanted to be on the field so bad.hammb wrote: Partridge was a stud when healthy.

Jelani Jordan...I would have liked to participate, but I hasd too much going on last week to think much..
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.

That's the one I was thinking of. Jelani was a pretty darn good player for us, when you step back and look at it. Yet for every game of good coverage he'd have one or two glaring blowups that had a bunch of us (myself included) ranting that he needed to sit the bench.
If he's still on the board for me when it returns, he'll probably be my next pick, but I think he's a good example of a guy who has dropped in this draft due to perception as opposed to actual skill.
When stacked next to one another I think he was a better secondary player than Antonio Smith who is already off the board, for instance.

Re: BGSU Player draft
Jelani Jordan never rang a bell in my mind. I was reviewing all of our historic rosters, and when I read his name his didn't register as a name of a player I needed to draft.
ROLL ALONG!!!
Re: BGSU Player draft
He was a solid CB who actually had quite a few INTs here over the years. Unfortunately he was the classic all or nothing gambler at CB. He'd make some big plays and pick off a pass...then he'd blow a coverage for an 80 yard TD. I think most of us remember those blown coverages a lot more than we do the good plays he had.footballguy51 wrote:Jelani Jordan never rang a bell in my mind. Like I said, I was never a fan of his when he was playing, but I think now that I step back and think of his career as a whole he was a better player than the perception would seem to be.
Re: BGSU Player draft
I have been debating between Jelani Jordan and another other player I will remain nameless so I pick:
Alex Glantzis
Jelanie Jordan

Hammb, I remember you trashing JJ all the time so I thought he might be safe for awhilehammb wrote:He was a solid CB who actually had quite a few INTs here over the years.
