Re: WMU hires Andy Murray.....
i think this is exactly right. The Broncos are making a determined and almost audacious play not to be left behind. And it might work. I do understand what you are saying....winning would be more fun than losing. But you are more or less accepting mid major status in hockey....which you kept alive on the idea that it was the one sport where you could be nationally relevant. It is very disappointing, though I do not think GC really had many options.

Joehockey....I've already posted several suggestions as far as what BG should do regarding hockey. No one was suggesting to fire Bergeron and hire an NHL coach/player. It is obvious thy Western wants to be in a major conference because they have the foresight to see what is going to happen to the leftovers.
I just think the college hockey landscape is telling BG that they aren't important. I used to be a season ticket holder, really enjoyed the team, but the fact is that anyone left out of the top leagues are going to be a non factor nationally. The next thing you'll see is a push to expand the tournament to get more teams from the major conferences in. Thus making it nearly impossible for the little guys to be national players.

If what Drago is saying is true, and for all we know it could be, then college hockey as we now know it equals BCS football. Only major Universities with supreme budgets and facilities will compete for National titles while everyone else is left just trying to survive. If we're lucky, maybe we can be college hockey's version of Boise State.
