The addition of a video board was a great idea. The problem was, as we all know, it was way too small from the start. I really hope to see it enlarged because that would solve the problem with it. I remember there being two ad panels on both the right and left sides of it. If the board was extended to cover these ad spots, it would be perfect.

The project shows a completion of May 2012 and there are two sizes being considered.

Physical Dimensions: 17’-10.2”” (h) x 31’-6” (l) x 12.4”(d), 5,800lbs. (option 1)

Physical Dimensions: 19’-11.4” (h) x 34’-7.8” (l) x 12.4” (d), 7,100 lbs (option 2)

LED and capable of displaying 281 trillion colors.

No idea on funding source.

I just hope we don't Spinal Tap the specs and wind up with the equivalent of a 17 inch tall Stonehenge

So, at a minimum the size will be going from 215 square feet to around 550?

That's a nice jump!!!

Yes that's a nice jump. But if you look at the list of video board sizes, that would only move us up from #82 (smallest in I-A) to #71. Not real impressive in those terms. Not expecting something close to the 7,400 sq ft behemoth of Texas, but something closer to Akron's 858 sq ft would be nice.

The bigger one would take us close to 700 square feet...ove three times larger than current. That's fine with me!

What that means is that we're still better than the 38 I-A schools that don't even have a video board. That's almost a third of college football.

It's not the size that counts, it's how you use it!

I can't imagine a guy with a giant video-board saying, "Man, I sure wish this was smaller and more maneuverable."

This is great news and much needed. Thank you Learfield! The current videoboard was too small from the start. I remember being excited when I heard we were getting one, then the first time I saw it, I was very surprised how small the videoboard was.

That said, if we're going to increase the size of this videoboard, I would like to add to our "wish list" of things to do is dress up the rest of the video/scoreboard tower. I like the arched Bowling Green Falcons at the top, but it would be nice to see us put up some sort of a brick-type facade around the four poles that our video/scoreboard sits on - something that would encase the actual posts. Maybe with the type of material the Sebo Center was made of to make it actually match and blend a little. Just an idea, but I think this is something that could be done to improve the overall look of our tower without spending much money on it as well.
