You could have just sent the Bandit and Snowman to get that for you.

"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

I've been enjoying Yuengling for the past 5 years in Charlotte. Great beer.

Been drinking Bell's from Kalamazoo, Michigan....tasty, tasty stuff. Additionally, if you ever get roped into going to Frankenmuth, hit the brewry...awesome food and beer.

Re: Anyone in a tailgate mood?
Dropped the 2 oldest girls off for a week of Camp not too far north of K-zoo. Thought long about taking the rest of the family to Bell's and having the wife drive home....I've been drinking a decent amount of Short's (Up near Traverse City) lately. Meijer is starting to carry more of it, and I heard they had some great new beers at the Ypsi Beer fest.
Have family coming in from PA later this week. Hopefully they'll have room to bring me a case of yuengling.

Bell's is fantastic too. I've had the Porter, Two Hearted Ale, and the Kalamazoo Stout. Good stuff!Flipper wrote:Been drinking Bell's from Kalamazoo, Michigan....tasty, tasty stuff. Additionally, if you ever get roped into going to Frankenmuth, hit the brewry...awesome food and beer.

Bells may be the best brewery in the country. Seriously Two Hearted, Double Cream Stout, 3rd Coast Old Ale, HopSlam, K-zoo Stout, etc are all FANTASTIC beers. Not just in their own right, but fantastic for their style when compared to others as well. Count Oberon in there too, as I hate summer wheat ales, but that is actually drinkable.
Yuengling to me is good, but vastly overrated by a LOT of people. I think being the oldest brewery in the country, combined with the limited distribution of it, have made it have a nostalgic place with a lot of people, but it's really just not that special, IMO. They have a couple good, solid offerings, but nothing that shines one the scale of Bells' beers, IMO.

Re: Anyone in a tailgate mood?
I've been real tempted to pick up one of the 5L Oberon barrels. Its our typical Friday afternoon happy hour choice.
I had Frankenmuth's Dunkel at Ashely's a couple of months ago and wasn't impressed. I'd try some of their other beers though if I see them in the store.

Re: Anyone in a tailgate mood?
After the initial ease of getting Yuengling in Tennessee excitement wore off, I have to say I have come to agree with hammb. The main reason I still buy it from time to time is that it's the same price as Bud Light/Miller Lite/Coors Light, but unlike those beers, has some actual flavor to it. Of course with Hudepohl's Amber Lager recently becoming available down here, and my family having pretty strong Cincinnati roots, I'm going more that direction for a cheaper, simple Amber beer these days. And I also recently discovered Tap No. 21 brews, which are also cheap, yet offer a pale ale with a decent hop character for a budget beer.
All that being said, I'm looking forward to having a little extra disposable income again in a few months so I can get some of the beers I really love.

I'm not normally into beer with "fruit" in it...but I'm liking the Leinenkugel summer shandy. Really hit the spot on one of those blast furnace days last week. As an added plus, It's on tap at Myle's...

You can't compare a great micro brewed ale to a commercial lager.hammb wrote:Bells may be the best brewery in the country.
