No player names on back of jersey's this year?

Post by Oldballcoach61 »

Heard from some that BG will not have players names on jersey's this year. If true, wonder what the reasoning is for such.

Has BG done this before ?

Just asking.

Ugh...I have not heard that but let me be the first to say that I can't stand it.

Put the damn players' names on the jerseys and don't give me some bullshit that it helps them play as a team rather than individuals or whatever. Personally, I wish the NCAA would just mandate that the names must be there.

I think the easiest answer to this question is >..... YES.... seems as it they did this about 5 yrs. ago or so...not sure what reasoning was...but it wasn't received well by fans. I like to be able to pick up names while watching game with binoculars... helps to see who's doing the job and who's not.

Well, it appears they are doing it again this year. I don't like it either, and it makes no sense what so ever. Every player I ever coached dreamed of playing D1 ball and to see their name on the jersey. Having a players name on the back doesn't deminish the " play as a team" spirit.

It is hard to establish a consistant image when a school continues to make changes for no apparent reasons. Hard to build a marketable image when you, as a school, struggle to identify what you are trying to portray.

Frustrating , to say the least.

it is a pain. Its hard enough when the roster isn't updated very often so you don't know who has what number..........speaking of which they added some walk-ons. Three I never heard of before.....James Brown, Marcus Graham and Mitch Williams. Pohlman may get some playing time at fullback with Ackenberger out.

James Brown WR 6-3 190 Fr. Evanston, Ill. / Evanston Township
Ryan Burbrink WR 5-9 177 Fr. Shady Side, Mary. / DeMatha Catholic
Spencer Cairo OL 6-3 290 Fr. Rochester, Mich. / Rochester Adams
Marcus Graham DB 6-1 191 Fr. Dayton, Ohio / Trotwood
Taylor Hanes WR 6-1 180 Fr. McComb, Ohio / McComb
Jordan Leininger LB 6-0 210 Fr. Delphos, Ohio / Delphos St. John's
Chris Pohlman TE/FB 6-2 250 Fr. Delphos, Ohio / Delphos St. John's
Matt Redfield LB 6-0 220 Fr. Powell, Ohio / Bishop Watterson
Malik Stokes QB 6-2 185 Fr. Philadelphia, Pa. / Northeast
Tony Traylor DB Fr.
Mitch Williams TE 6-6 245 Fr. West Chester, Ohio / Lokota East

I'm Stoked about Malik Stokes.

OK, so that's a bad pun, but really, that guy is going to be good. Seriously good. Not sure if he'll spend his career at QB or move to WR, but either way he is going to have a serious impact on this team IMO.

Is Mitch Williams any relation to Brad Williams?
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.

This statement got me thinking...

What other DI school can say they've worn 5 different jersey styles and 4 different helmet designs in 8 years... ok other than Oregon.

Is there any reason why we would change it so often. I mean I understand when the new logos came out there would be some changes but 4 different helmets and 5 different jerseys in 8 years (OK the brown jersey was a throwback but I think we wore it for all home games in 06)

As much as I hate the inconsistency I really hope this new jersey doesn't stick around, the helmet I kinda like.

I just hope there's no one named Joe Carter on another MAC roster.

I like the first helmet and the first 2 jerseys. Don't care much for any of the others.

I'm more concerned with the product on the field than with what style they are wearing. As far a numbers go they did it so now you have to buy a program.
