2011 BGSU Football Commercial
Re: 2011 BGSU Football Commercial
They would make a lot more money if they quit doing commercials and started winning games. Maybe try playing the games on Saturday afternoons instead of weekday nights in bad weather, that might help too.

Drago, are you related to birdman? You're good for one negative comment after another lately. The late season games during the week are because the MAC office likes to whore the conference out to get on ESPN. We had one bad season last year and were in a bowl game the year before. There is no pattern of losing in the BG program as we have a proud and successful tradition. There are plenty of programs out there that would love to have the success BG's had over the years.Drago wrote:They would make a lot more money if they quit doing commercials and started winning games. Personally, I like the commercial.

I actually really like the comercial as well. It feels like you're really in the middle of the action, and I'm hyped for the season to start!

What he said. BG has had 2 losing years out of the last 10, 7 winning, and 1 at .500. That's a pretty darn good track record for a team not in a so-called "power conference". So yeah, last year was perhaps our worst year ever. I didn't like it either, but to rip on everything the program does because they had a clunker season once just isn't right.Falconfreak90 wrote:Drago, are you related to birdman? I agree with you to some degree on the midweek games in November, especially since we have TWO of them at home this year, but realistically speaking every MAC team has to go through them with the MAC offices' want to be on national television. I remember in 2007 and 2008 we didn't have any weekday night games when many other MAC teams did...this year we just happened to be on the short end of the stick. Besides, if we beat NIU and OU in those midweek games, nobody will care or remember that the game was played on a weekday night because as you said, winning cures all ills.

We don't control our schedule...the MAC office does. Criticizing the University over something out of their hands is wrong. Regarding the commercial...I thought it was good. The whole "we are" thing isn't particularly original...but it fits on a billboard and it resonates with people because it is used so much elsewhere...I can't really fault them for using it too

I watched the ad many times over. The ending starting with the RB diving towards the goal continuing on is the strongest piece with much of it carried over from last year, if I recall [along with the script.] Last year's ad, I thought, was very good.
* I don't get the "announcer" being on the field poorly lip syncing the words.
* There are 13 guys in the huddle at the beginning. I hope that's not an indication of need [leave it alone and just walk away, BirdBrain.]
I give it a "B" buoyed by the end piece.
But I'm an @sshole. What do I know?

Love it. He only badly lipsyncs once. Would like to see him less or thruout.

There was one of these "We are..." branding campaigns for another school and they chose to capitalize the middle ARE as if the place was going through some sort of weird existential identity crisis.
