Detroit - Chicago Concert

Post by musicman2343 »

Hey, I'm heading up to Detroit to see Chicago perform at the Fox Theatre. Any of you who know the area - any good restaurants nearby?

The Foxtown Grille is right next door...literally in the building . Good food...kinda pricey. Angelina Bistro is on Broadway just off Woodward (over by the Opera House). I just ate their on Saturday, It's pretty good. Cheli's Chili is accross the way from Angelina's...nver eaten there. Rub BBQ is just south of Foxtown Grille in the..I think...Pfife building. The Ellwood is back between Ford Field and Comerica...heard that's good. Never eaten there though. Avoid Hockeytown Cafe...OK ambience, crap bar food.

If you've never been to the Fox...you're going to love it. Great, historic venue...
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.

Don't know if this is too late to help you but we usually go to Evie's Tamales in Mexicantown when we're in Detroit. It's not glamourous by any stretch of the imagination but the food is fantastic. Try the carnitas if they haven't run out.

Also, La Gloria bakery down the street has fantastic cookies.
I love people who can laugh at themselves. It saves me the effort.

Cool. Maybe I'll go up earlier and make a nice day trip of it!

WOW! You weren`t kidding Flip! Sitting here just before the concert starts - this place is like a time machine... As a classical musician, it definitely looks like an opera house and the architecture is phenomenal! Can`t wait for Chicago to take the stage!!!
