John Wagner at the Blade...

Post by Flipper »

...has been doing a great job following the Falcons through training camp. Follow him on twitter @jwagnerblade and read his BGSU blog, Falcon Fodder at toledoblade.typepad.com/falconfodder.... :-)
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.

He has been my favorite beat writer we've had over the last 7-8 years. I felt the others gave good energy and attention, I just prefer John's writing style and approach.

Wagner has more of an old-school writing style. While it fits well with a newspaper he hasn't really grasped the "blog" style of writing that is dominating the 2000s.

Which I'm perfectly fine with. He does great work and gives all BG sports a regular mention in his Falcon Fodder.

What does that mean? I don't read blogs very often and just wondered what you meant by it since I'm not very familiar with blogs or blog styles. His is about the only one I read and not all that often, to be honest.
"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."
