Michigan Recruit in Freep's Top 25
The Detroit Free Press is running its preseason top 25 HS players this week, five at a time. #23 is BG recruit Ben Steward 290 lb OL from Holt, Michigan. He is described as versatile, plays center, guard or tackle. Overpowers defensive lineman and also a standout for Holt defensively. He's rated just above Toledo QB recruit Brian Backburn. I wonder if the Goble kid whom I've seen as a highly rated player in other lists will be even higher.

I checked out the Free Press" "Top 25" and Goble is NOT included. The Cleve. PD had a large spread on HS football last week, featuring the fact that Ohio is LOADED with linemen this year....even listed the top 50 in the state who've verballed to D-1 schools. BG has 3 of them, and the MAC overall has EIGHTEEN if I counted correctly. Most of the rest are B-11/12 (whatever) school verbals with Pitt snagging their fair share too.

Not suprised that Ohio has that many lineman getting looks. The state is becoming the epicenter of strength training. You have EliteFts cranking out high quality equipment down in London (Dave Tate from Elite is supposed to be in Muscle and Fitness sometime soon), You got Rogue down in Columbus...they were the supplier nationally for the Crossfit games and they make some nce stuff too and you have Louie Simmons at Westside Barbell in Columbus...Louie is becoming the authority for strength in a lot of circles.

It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.
