Detroit beat writer passes away

Post by gmartin »

A good friend of mine whom I have gotten to know very well the past 10 years while working for the Colts has passed away.

Detroit Sports beat writer, Tom "the killer" Kowalaki, has passed away at the young age of 51. He was one of the nicest newspaper guys I have ever had the chance to meet. Detroit coverage will not be the same without him.

"Killer" was one of my favorite people to follow on twitter...he was on there constantly communicating with fans or offering insights on what he saw at practice or on film. I nver met him, but he seemed like a really genuine, hard working guy who truly loved his work.

He'll be missed....
