My wife and I were at the Stroh all night watching the game. It was great being able to watch the game on the big screen in the new arena. My first time being there as well Musicman. It is beautiful, especially when my first experience is seeing BG take down Idaho!!

Had a great time in the Kibbie Dome tonight! Decent turnout by BG fans considering how far away. Great way to start off the season!

I'm glad to hear the video feed was working at the Stroh! We were all worried (on azz.com) that the Stroh event encountered video issues.

So, I thought the game was great and all. Good way to start the season. But DEAR LORD watching how conservative that the offesne got in second half make me insane. Clawson coaching philosophy make me crazy. I am all for running the ball but 3 yards a pop for an entire half when but when you offesne is on fire, why in the heck do you slow it down. You need to put you foot on their throats

Just my two cents

Video was lost at the stroh for awhile like everyone else but they ended up going off the feed on the vandals website for awhile before switching back to altitude. Ended up working fine and the whole second half was on without a hitch!

I was told last night that there are about 6,500 BG Alums in Lorain County...not sure how accurate that is but even if there are only half that many alums in Lorain County, I am still disgusted by the turnout for the "watch party" last night. There were three of us. THREE. That is ridiculous. Either the Lorain County rep for the Alumni Association doesn't do their job or doesn't exist. Very disheartining. I had a great time watching the game but it could have been a much, MUCH bigger group. Wake up folks!

When I use to live in Elyria I felt the same way. I showed up to a couple of those events and only a handful of people would be there. Sadly most of them are waiting for the cheaters of Ohio to play on Saturday.

Hi

Just returned back in Portland from my drive to Moscow/Palouse for last night's game (tied in with some hiking in the Wallowa Mtns).

The Game . The game last night was excellent, of course (particularly the first half). Schilz's timing, Cooper's speed, and the defense's tackling were most notable. I attended the game with a friend of mine who is a bio/chem prof at UI and he couldn't believe that BG had won only 2 games last year and that Matt is only a soph, having missed much of last year. UI's QB, Reader; albeit a senior, did not have much playing time last year...and it showed. However, give BG's pass rush a great deal of credit for this. The problem with scoring so often/so quickly/so early was that after BG would tack on a TD, you'd look up at the scoreboard and it would still show a zillion minutes until halftime. So eventhough BG's offense in the second half was not great theatre; it was understandable. However, I can't wait to watch the game on ESPN3 and see if my biased perception of questionable officiating in the second half (particularly pass interference "no calls" in front of the BG section) has legs.

The Atmosphere: As a Pacific Northwester', I value the lifestyle and environment here greatly. The Palouse, is a unique and beautiful place and the UI campus (albeit about half the size of BG) is very nice and well planned (unlike, let's say for argument; the TU prison yard and the 3 block Boise Junior College campus that has sprouted out from the Blue Turf). However, with the incredible weather outside the Kibbie Quonset Hut last night it was a shame to have to play inside that depressing place (even with the $$$ UI just put into it). Granted, even with maybe only at 2/3rds capacity last night; the Vandals can make a lot of noise...when they are winning. At about the halfway point of the first quarter last night...surprisingly it became deathly quiet. Granted, BG's offense in the second half...having changed its game plan...contributed to this somnolence. The Vandal fans, as I learned at the Truck Stop Bowl in 2009, are very passionate; but respectful.

Finally, kudos to Freddie, the BG cheerleaders and the small, but spirited BG section last night. It was fun to see, after a TD, the BGSU flag carriers run across the field to the UI student section, get heartily booed, then run back across the field to the BG side and be cheered. Also kudos to President Mazey for her active involvement with the team and the BG fans at the game. Notwithstanding her misguided Auburn fanaticism (go UGA Dawgs!), I think she will do BG proud! Now go UGA Dawgs and UW Dawgs tomorrow!

There was no need to show more of our playbook when running the ball and taking time off the clock was doing the job. Hell, it's great to see a running game and the O control the game with TOP!

We have bigger games coming up in the MAC and I'm sure Coach Clawson will have all sorts of fun things for opponents.

John Wagner's Falcon Fodder reports:
http://toledoblade.typepad.com/falconfodder/
"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."
