High School Football

Post by Warthog »

Just to get more gabs in at TG ( ), my son's Bowling Green Bobcats took down TG's Rossford Bulldogs 36-12 tonight. Derek started his senior season in great fashion by taking a kick off back 85 yards for a TD and adding an interception later in the game. He now has two now has two career KO returns for TDs in like 12 attempts.

An 85 yard kick return vs. Rossford is like a 12 yard return against normal competition.

That program is brutal and only getting better by playing schools like Woodmore this year. I wonder how their big league teams did with the Toledo Catholic schools?

Ever City League lost last night. Bowsher, picked to win the league, lost to Perrysburg like 54-14 and it was 41-0 at halftime.

The kick return was sweet. It's hard to explain, but from the moment the ball was in the air, I could just tell things were lining up for a great return.

I was a wreck before the game started though.

Sorry, but I don't know how to do the 'embed' thing, but here is a link to Derek's KO return for a TD. It's the very first highlight.

It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

The Bobcats go to 2-0 for the first time in recent memory with a 14-13 win over Fostoria. With a minute and a half left and facing 3 and 4 from their own 20, BG called a bootleg pass. I have no problem with that. But there was nothing there so just go down. No, the QB tries to make a play, throws an INT and Fo-town gets it at the 20. Fourth and goal with 15 seconds left they throw a TD pass over the middle, but get an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty after the play. That was HUGE. The try was then from the 18 instead of the three. Fostoria went for two and didn't convert. BGHS wins.

Mitch Hewitt Got his first win as a head coach beating Kenston 41 to 26. Chardon (coach's high school alma mater) is now 1-1 on the season and a new culture is coming back to Chardon football!

Congratulations, coach!

BGHS is at 10:36 mark. Check out that kid running over tacklers on the first play. :D

BGHS goes to 3-0 for the first time in something like 25 years with a 27-24 win at Bowsher. Derek Schroeder had three TDs for the Bobcats. :D

We'll see how good they really are next week as they open up NLL play at home against Maumee, one of the favorites to win the league.

Bobcats got a nice come-from-behind win, beating Northview 26-14 after falling behind 14-0. Now 4-1 on the season. Some Schroeder kid had himself quite the second half.
