Anthon Samuel

Post by thewebboy »

So what do we think of Mr. Samuel? Is he the real deal?

I love seeing a true freshman breakout like he did, but I have a feeling he will be splitting carries with Hopgood this season (which isn't a bad thing).

Between Schilz, Samuel, and Stokes transferring to BG, I like where this offense is heading...

Certainly was quite the debut. He had some BiG numbers in HS down in FLA.

Very well could be a stud RB for 4 years.

from the same high school as Willie Geter. Maybe starting a little bit of a pipeline?

He seems like he has better speed than Willie Geter. He for sure knows how to hit a hole running! No dancing and juking, which is going to allow him to have better games more consistently. He looked solid again against Morgan State!

Geter was finesse while Samuel lowers his shoulder and welcomes the contact.

Definitely well coached as a oh player as he blocks well and catches out of the backfield nicely.

Wille didn't shy away from the contact either...he gained a lot of yards between the tackles

Geter's efforts were very admirable and sometimes he would push the pile but I often felt it was out of necessity rather than design. With Samuel I get the feeling he can carry the load much better.

We are opening some holes this year and not many of those were available to Geter. Samuals looks good as does Hopgood. I'd like to see a little more Martin as well. Being 5 deep at tailback is good thing.

I like how Clawson limited his carries after the fumble. Samuel looks legit, but i would like to see how he does in this ohio cold weather late in the season. We will know what we have once we play WVU. Glad to see a running game in BG.

Samuel is more P.J. than Willie.

Here's a highlight vid of Willie...he and Samuel do look very similar. Willie was a strong little dude who squared up and went through people...

Very underrated in his ability to move the pile and go north/south, IMO. Geter was a good back who would have had better numbers if we could have blocked for him.

It's just nice to have a running game, period. I don't care who is doing the running as long as we're not playing hot-potato with the ball. The importance is moving towards the goal line and not the sideline waiting for a hole. Hit the creases and explode through them. Keep up the balanced attack and keep winning football games! Does he have the most yards of any freshman running back ever after 2 games?
