My understanding is that Transfer has either locked himself inside and is living off the remaining stock. Or he has a secrect bunker with enough take-out to last.

The only actual word I had heard, was that they now expect the new building to open in February. They had though January, but obviously nothing is moving at the hotel site. But if they move before too much longer, I can see a single building being finished.

They moved some dirt this week, new equipment there.

Heard on the vine, that BW3's corporate office ordered the other store to close due to simply not conforming to the existing standards.

Heard that Radio Shack is moving to the former Video Gallery on the south-end.

Heard that there was some talk of converting the east-side Big Boy to a Ralphies.

Radio Shack would then be leaving the mall. Woodland mall is dying, plain and simple. All they are getting are judo classes moving in.

Radio Shack is the only reason I have for going to the mall.

The place is starting to deteriorate, which until recently hadn't been much of an issue. I think the place will malinger for awhile. The state training office, movie theaters, Quarters, the sports store, Julie's Dance Studio (expanding,) Elder Beerman, the rental hall, Subway, the Church, Judo place, hair place, Sears. I would rate those all as healthy enough not to move. I think really they could do better with the place, but the last I knew, the bank still was running it since ceasing it. I doubt it is losing money.

More mixed-use would do well. Not sure we really need a "mall" in BG.

They really need to push to get a third anchor back in the mall, and make sure it's a good store. Something like a JCPenny or Sears (so it's not just appliances). Also, even though I don't shop this store, bringing a Hot Topic in would bring a lot of business.

Although BG doesn't really need a mall, they currently have one. If they don't make an effort to keep it profitable and popular, it will just sit abandoned like the store fronts down by Walmart did for all of those years.

Do you REALLY think it will malinger? Sounds like it is genuinely ill to me. No need to fake it. ;-)

Given that the BG store was a franchise and not corporte-owned, I have some doubts about that. I mean, corporate could have threatened to pull their rights to using the brand & recipes, but I doubt they could actually close the restaurant.

In my experience, most of the stores in Ohio are franchises, whereas a lot of the ones in "newer" areas for the company (like Tennessee & including the one I work at) are corporate owned. Easiest way to tell is whether there's an "Owner" listed on the front window or just a General Manager. Franchise stores generally have a little more freedom to change things up, holding their own promotions, etc. while corporate stores are the ones who receive the nice thick manual of standards they have to hold to. Of course, if a franchise store deviates too much, they can lose the ability to use all the BWW trademarks.

Some store teenagers like to shop at. I can't really explain it except to say that they sell a lot of black clothes and play terrible crappy music in the store.

In that case, I'll ask my niece. She's probably got a store credit card for the joint.

They had rezoned land north of the mall for new retail development some years ago. That was near to the time the two retails strips were built on north Main. The mall itself was seemingly booming. All the anchors full, stores opening, good times. The economy hit a wall, and the spiral began.

Plus, you had Levis Commons and spin-off development to the north.

Another anchor would be nice, I just can't figure what chain could come to BG.

I'm relating what came up in conversation. However I can find it entirely possible that even a franchise can get leaned on heavily by corporate. I am curious if they expect to move equipment from the old location.

Was going down Wooster after the loss today and about went into shock when I saw Buffalo Wild Wings was closed. Back in the old days I used to go down there every Wednesday with the gang from BG24. We even stopped in there last year during Homecoming weekend.

Glad to hear it will be back (and a bit closer to campus this time around)!
