But we don't play "Scary" in A-band. I thought A-band was what we were talking about.bgmaggot00 wrote:Maybe not Beethoven, but as of late there has been A LOT of Bach. What is referred to as "Scary," is actually the introduction to Bach's Toccata and Fugue in D. But who cares? Instead of actually teaching people what its called, lets just call it "Scary!!!" Whatever. I'm moving out of Music-major talk. Adios, Jeff
If you want to get into the topic of our marching band music, then that's a WHOLE other topic that would need a forum all to itself.

Sorry, I just got a mental image... can you imagine the drum majors actually calling it by its true name?
DMs: "OKAY, BAND! AFTER THE NEXT PLAY, INTRODUCTION TO BACH'S TOCCATA AND FUGUE IN D!"
Low brass: "WHAT?? WE CAN'T HEAR YOU FROM BACK HERE! WHAT DID YOU SAY?"
DMs: "WE SAID, INTRODUCTION TO BACH'S TOCCATA AND FUGUE IN D!!!"
Low brass: "WE CAN'T UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU'RE SAYING!!"
DMs: "Aw, screw it. SCREAMER!"
Low brass: "OKAY!"

Actually, what I was saying about the low brass is that they're farther away from the drum majors than anyone else is. Hence the "we can't hear you from back here." It wasn't meant as an insult.
But hey, if you want to open that door, go riiiiight ahead.

You guys call it "scary?" I love it! I would love to hear it played during the introduction of the opposing players in AA. They might be cool. I also would love to hear "Three Blind Mice" played when the officials make their entrance.

I am SO suggesting Three Blind Mice to Dr. Hayward!!!! Or Ryan... since he could probably arrange that in his sleep. Dude, that would totally be worth a penalty- bwahaha!!Finally in 04 wrote:You guys call it "scary?" I love it! I would love to hear it played during the introduction of the opposing players in AA. Who gets a penalty? All we need to do is start a new "spirit group" that happens to wear ref shirts and comes out just as the officials do
The band would just be introducing that group.

I have to say, I was pretty amused when I was at an NIU-BG men's basketball game last year over xmas break. When Kevin Netter fouled out (big surprise), their band started playing either Queen's "Another one bites the dust," or "Na na na na, hey hey hey, good bye." It was one of the two. But its stuff like that, where you can inject comedy and energy into the crowd that I think we're missing sometimes. However, the afformentioned playing of "Respect" last week was quite funny. OK, see ya at the UT game, Carlson
haha!
I agree that is hilarious... it would be awesome to play "another one bites the dust" when they lose a player... heck... maybe hockey A-Band should play it each time someone *from the opposing team* get sent to his rightful seat in "the box" Now that would be awesome...bgmaggot00 wrote:When Kevin Netter fouled out (big surprise), their band started playing either Queen's "Another one bites the dust," or "Na na na na, hey hey hey, good bye."
