Re: WCHA Bound.
Wish North Dakota was sticking around the WCHA. Would be awesome to see that program come play in Bowling Green.

Re: WCHA Bound.
I'm glad I don't have to try to figure out how to make a conference schedule for nine teams (two of which are in Alaska). I think it would be a good idea to have schools play at the Alaskas on consecutive weeks to save on airfare and only make that trip every other year. Those schools could even set aside dorm space for the visiting teams to help save on expenses.
I love people who can laugh at themselves. It saves me the effort.
Re: WCHA Bound.
I'm glad we've finally decided on a conference that looks like it will be extremely strong with a lot of great hockey programs in it, although it seems like these teams are REALLY spread out

I'm really sad to see the end of the CCHA, but I'm glad we have a home for the future.

Give it some time and those NCHC members might come crawling back.VDub26Falcon wrote:Wish North Dakota was sticking around the WCHA. Would be awesome to see that program come play in Bowling Green.

"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

Re: WCHA Bound.
I was actually hoping that Buffalo upgrading their program would start a trend and get more MAC schools on the ice! Several MAC schools have some good club programs!

Gosh, this is the greatest news ever! I can't wait to play these great and powerful hockey programs that our AD says we can have a hope of perhaps beating! It would have been terrible aligning with Miami and WMU in the best conference this side of Hockey East. Thanks GC, you are my hero!

Well, guess what? They didn't invite us to their party. So quit your bitching, and stop trying to blame this on GC. Would it have been great for us to be in the NCHC? Sure! Did we get invited? No. Is that GC's fault? No. Get over it.Sub-Zero wrote:Gosh, this is the greatest news ever! Upon looking at the final tally for the WCHA, 5 of the 9 teams are going to be coming from the CCHA... so why is it still going to be called the WCHA?
Re: WCHA Bound.
^EXACTLY
What would you rather have GC do? Ax the hockey program altogether? At least we have a place to play.
If we continue to rebuild and win, our program will get noticed by the bigger conferences down the road.
The most important thing is that we have a place to play D1 hockey and a chance to go to the Frozen Four every year. That's what matters, right?

Q & A with GC:

This quote about made me sick. It's what I have feared all along with the Big Can't Count conference! Heading the way of the BC$!!!

CHN: Of course, will you get home games out of that? That's the issue.
Christopher: Time will tell on that. What we're hearing is they want to continue to play us and playing at Bowling Green is not out of the question. Personally I have my doubts. Where hockey is headed is not terribly different than where football and basketball went three decades ago. The larger schools that are getting 6-to-7-thousand-plus (attendance per game), it's awfully tough for those schools to leave their building. I wouldn't be surprised if in five to 10 years, the conversation becomes a little more one-sided. "I would love to play you, but if you want to play us it will have to be up there."

Re: WCHA Bound.
Subzero.....you can't blame GC for any of this. Its not like he tried to cut the program 2 years ago so he could put more money into Football. Even if he did do that, it wouldn't hurt the competiveness and image of the program.
On a more serious note...the team may want to buy their own bus, because they are going to be on it a lot. It may not seem like it, but of the options we had this was are only chance to become relevant again in college hockey. I don't think we'll contend much down the road, but I agree, its still college hockey.

Drago.....you are right on in your first paragraph, so what does he do.......now he is cutting budgets and scholarships in other sports to "support his habit" and will run them all in the ground! I'm glad some people understand what is going on.
