You are correct Redwing except for one exception. The player replacing Young, in this case, will then be done for THIS series as well as the World Series. They must sit out the next series as well.

.... And it just got worse. Young is out for the entire series. Rayburn and Dirks will now need to step it up.

Wow...and now Ordonez out for the rest of the postseason as well. He hasn't been playing well all year, but still.

They now have 3 corner OFs that are out for the ALCS (Boesch, Young, Ordonez). Let's hope Raburn & Dirks can show up big...

Sad ending for Maggs...I doubt he or Guillen will be Tigers in 2012. In 2007 Magglio had about the best season I've seen a Tiger have.

Sucks you've missed the last couple years that Cabrera has had, but yeah Magglio was amazing in 2007.

Seriously, it is a sad ending for Maggs' career. I know he was basically a hired gun but he always seemed to embrace Detroit, and he was really part of the big turnaround. To me he's almost the poster child for the Tigers getting better...he got there (along with Leyland, Verlander, Granderson, etc) and the team started to be competitive again. I always thought he was tremendously underrated in Chicago...it was awesome to have him in the Old English D...I hope they win it all so he can get a ring.

Maggs hit .360 that year with 25-30 HR's and about 50 doubles. Cabrera's been great....but that was a ridiculous year Ordonez had in 2007.

Maggs was ridiculous. I just think that with Cabrera we take it for granted because we EXPECT him to do it. He has had a higher OPS than 2007 Magglio each of the past 2 years. He hit .344 with 48 doubles and 30 HRs this year. He hit .328 with 35 or so HRs last year.

Not downplaying Maggs, because that was certainly an MVP caliber season. I just continue to be amazed that Cabrera puts up these sorts of numbers every year and doesn't get nearly as much talk about him as he deserves, IMO. He is one of the best RH hitters of our generation, and he's still in his prime.

Definitely...and I'm probably giving Magglio too much credit in comparison with Miguel because he hit that HR in 2006 to beat the A's and he signed with the Tigers when they were crappy... I don't know if I would take any player (non pitchers) in baseball over Cabrera right now. I think he's eclipsed Pujols....

There is definitely no position player I would trade muggy for right now. With his age and consistency. Much like pujols miggy's worst years would still be hall of fame type numbers for a career. He does it every year.

What jumped out at me looking back was Magglio's RBI total that year and I was reminded that as good as our offense was this year that 2007 team scored a full 100 more runs than 2011. Shows you how the game has changed in the past 4 years.

I love baseball...I just enjoy yanking your chain about GC....I like athletic women in short plaid skirts even more, so let's dump baseball and get a field hockey team going... :-)
