Tickets at the gate.

Post by truth »

Sort of a last minute opportunity opened up. I'm planning to come to the game this weekend. I have some friends who may or may not come, so I wish to hold off buying tickets to the game until we're all there and can get tickets seated next to each other. Does anyone believe this will be a problem due to selling out perhaps? Thanks in advance.

I'd LOVE to tell you that getting tix would be a problem...but considering that it's gonna be.... "cold"...I don't think getting tix will be a problem, despite TU being the opponent. We haven't had a "true" sellout since the Game Day vs. N. Ill. MANY years ago IIRC. :-k

I brought the wife up for Boise St. last year, and we were seated pretty high up on the east side. Not that that was a problem, but theres a game or 2 each year where it appears fairly close to a sellout. I llike how they moved the big game up this year and hope it brings more students to the game.

I think we'll roll the dice here. If anything we'll be seeking 3 or 4 tickets, so not like trying to coordinate a large group.

I would expect around 20,000...the noon start will probably keep some townies away as it did for the Wyoming game. Buy your tickets early around 10am to ensure you can get some together and obviously the best seats available.

The athletic department has been tweeting for a couple weeks that tickets are selling quickly. I believe the last note I saw said there was 5K or so left. Or "only" 5K left, depending on how full your glass is. ;)

Also, even if there are tickets, there could be long lines, so you won't want to show up at game time.

The attendance for this upcoming game is going to be REALLY interesting to digest. At the beginning of the season, I thought this game would be a guaranteed sellout. But there's three factors that might make it so that barely 15k are in the seats at gametime.

1.Noon start - will keep some of the townies and further away alumni at bay, much more so than a late afternoon or nighttime start. (Incidentally, the game starting so early might keep me from attending as well). The noon start against Wyoming clearly hurt attendance as we only drew 15k on a beautiful sunny September day when we were 2-0 coming in.

2.Getting blown out the 2 prior weeks - Anybody that follows the team closely has to be feeling down right now, and I don't think I need to explain why. That might keep some folks that were thinking of attending several weeks ago from coming.

3.Rain and cold - This is the big one, the weather forecast for Saturday looks awful. If it turns out to be mid-50s and rain like the weatherpeople are calling for then this will be a good test of resolve for our fanbase in general. Foul weather usually has a big impact on butts in seats.

Thus far there is a 20% chance of rain. They're calling for wind and a high of 60. I hardly call that awful. For NWO that's normal.

Yeah, the forecast doesn't look that bad for someone who did FMB for 4 years.... mid-upper 50's with a chance of rain? We call that BEAUTIFUL!!!

What? My "sources" say Saturday: Partly sunny and breezy, with a high near 60.

Since I gave away my tix for this game early in the season (When Freakling2 was playing football and I didn't think we could make the game), I bought 3 on the East side for the ut game....gonna watch the game from the East side in it's entirety. I don't think I've ever done that before.
