I hear that!TG1996 wrote:Things haven't been too positive in Falcon Country the past couple weeks, but going out there and sticking one to Toledo in front of 20+ thousand could make for a long and happy evening Saturday.

Re: Lame Rivalry
I remember Sharon catching a tipped pass and running it in for a TD and I recall Gradkowski missing a wide open WR on the sideline on 3rd or 4th and long late in the game.
What was the betting line that day?

It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.
Re: Lame Rivalry
I agree. This rivalry is based on our proximity to one another. If UT was located in Oxford or Athens we wouldn't even give a care about the Rockets.factman wrote:I would tend to agree that Miami and maybe even OU are better rivalries as we are all much more alike. Scuds are only important because they are close and it is nice to have bragging rights because we all run into each other.
GO BG!!!
Re: Lame Rivalry
I agree that it is based on proximity, but that doesn't change that it means more to me than any of our other games. When I first started at BG, sure, I was told that Toledo was our biggest rival, and so I got behind that notion casually. But as time went by, I got to really love BG. And when I woke up one day and walked to class to find that several UT students had come down overnight and spray painted "BG Sucks" and "F*** BG/F*** the Falcons" (without the asterisks) as well as pro-Toledo statements on several campus signs and sidewalks... that sealed it for me. They've painted our rock blue and gold many times, and that does get under my skin to see it in those colors, but I accept that it's something that is meant to be painted. The vandalism was crossing the line for me. Running into a Toledo fan while wearing a BG shirt a few years later in a bar down in Dayton and having him take to the karaoke stage solely to go on a "BG Sucks/Go Rockets" tirade for several minutes only reaffirmed my feeling of "you know what? Screw those guys." (Or other, stronger verbiage.) Now granted, I have run into some perfectly pleasant UT fans. But to me, the rivalry isn't lame at all. A win against the scuds salvages even the worst season. Here in Knoxville, most people are looking forward to the Vols playing #1 LSU tomorrow. I'm showing up to work in full BG regalia for my biggest game of the year.BGSU33 wrote:I agree. This rivalry is based on our proximity to one another. It may have only started because the two schools are so close to each other, but I still hate Toledo seven days a week and twice on Saturdays.

If UT were to play the commies from China in...anything...I'm learning to say "f**k UT" in Mandarin. When they played OSU all I had to say was "OH-IO"...... Screw them....
