I haven't really heard / read anything about what the CUSA schools will do when WVU leaves. I assume they wouldn't leave CUSA.

If CUSA was smart they would try to add UC and Louisville. IMO, it's just a matter of time before Seton Hall, St. Johns, Villanova, Depaul, Marquette, Providence, Villanova, Notre Dame and Georgetown break off and try to add Xavier, Dayton, Butler, and St. Louis for a new basketball only league.

Falcon137...throw the University of Detroit into that mix and you have the makings of a league with some very nice media markets....being a jesuit institution, they fit the cultural profile

Good point Flipper. Another board I post on talked about Providence not being a slam dunk if the BE bball schools broke away. Detroit would be a great fit.

Dare I suggest the thought, but would the MAC possibly consider breaking off football from the other sports? Would that possibly give one or more members the "out" to drop down a division? (excluding BGSU specifically, I am thinking more of Kent State personally.)

I just look at this, and if we are going to deal with a "post regional" football situation, and most every major and minor conference has been scrambled, lets open things up some. The biggest drag right now is having to tote the other sports around. Leave them in the MAC, break-off the football playing schools that want to remain on this level, and move forward.

I very seriously doubt there is much support at Kent State for 1a football. And I would bet you could even whip the students into a frenzy to drop to 1aa. (no I won't bother with the stupid FSCSSCSDS or whatever else they call the divisions right now.)

One of my biggest fears is that BG would drop, so any school dropping down makes me realize how close BG is to that and how little momentum we have towards becoming a more legitimate program. I think that when the dust settles it might be us, Ball State and the directional Michigans out to dry. Kent, Akron, Buffalo, Temple and Toledo are all in better markets and OU, Miami, N Illinois all have better programs. Maybe we will end up in the Sun Belt?

Explain to me how Akron, Kent, Toledo and Buffalo are good markets. Toledo is the only one you could make an argument for because they have a decent program, where the city somewhat cares.

No one cares about Kent or Akron, in Cleveland or Akron. No one cares about Buffalo in Buffalo.

Hell, no one cares about Temple football in Philly. No one cares about college football in Philly.

If we are in a post-regional era, then I think we are also needing to admit we are in a post TV era.

How many of BGSU's games have been on ESPN3 this year? I haven't watched TV to watch BG, I've watched it on my PC. And at need, somebody could use their properly equipped TV to do the same. I've said it several times in the last few years. This stupid game of chasing TV time is over. TV isn't where it is at. Online, that is the key. And we do not have to continue to bastardize our schedules for the frack'n ESPN dictatorship.

And you are very right, NOBODY cares about Temple football, not in Philly, not anyplace but in the perverted minds of the MAC administration. They are a frack'n joke. The Big East is ready to invite everybody including the Little Sisters of the Poor, yet not a single MAC program (or Marshall, which is worth the amusement to mention) is even on the radar.

The MAC should have its own online network. The farce of pretending we are getting some kind of value out of having Temple here for their TV market needs to be ended. Even if they remain in the conference, lets put aside the pretense that it is the TV market.

Put a good product together, do something innovative, and don't wait for the inevitable chaos.

I said better markets. You dont think Akron, Toledo, Buffalo, Philadelphia and Cleveland are better television markets then Muncie and Bowling Green.

I agree with your last point that we need to do something innovative and put together a better product. I completely disagree with that we should not have games on during the week. Plenty of people will be turning on their tvs to watch sports on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday next week and have NOTHING but college football. Sports fans will watch even bad college football. I dont think the positive that comes with being the only game on during a T, W or R can be over stated. You say that you have not watched one game on TV so that doesnt matter for most people, but BG football is not being marketed to you. They have you. BG football on TV and Football on tv everywhere is much more about getting the casual fan to tune in than geting the avid fan to watch it. They know you should watch it. Whats more important is the guy flipping through the channels being exposed to BG, that randomness does not happen on the internet. How many other games from other teams you don't cheer for have you watched? Maybe the innovative thing is getting you to watch random gmaes on the internet.
