Band discussion is going to be taken off this board if we keep at it.
I do not mean to be insulting, I think the band is a really good thing to have. Not necessary any more but certainly a positive that adds to the game experience. But in all of your explanations as to why I should not like the OU band and why BG band is better you are pointing to things that only another bandperson would know or even care about. Its like a painter making artwork that is so good that only other painters can appreciate it and the general public can't understand. If the goal is education and not entertainment then maybe that makes sense. But then you are just educating new band leaders to make unentertaining bands.[/quote]

Bullshit. I equate OU's band to McDonald's. Looks good on TV but wholly unfulfilling and not very satisfying.
You mentioned art in our very lame attmept at a metaphor. Okay, OU's band is a paint by numbers for the masses.
But to each their own. I would rather support my fellow BGSU family members in all of their pursuits but you would rather jerk off against the fence admiring how green the other pastures appear to be.
Get it now, pooky?*
*Rhetorical question. I know full well you don't and won't.

I think the metaphor worked perfectly. I think this is a ridiculously immature response. I certainly support BGs band. If I didn't I wouldn't want them to be more awesome like OUs band, I just wouldn't care.Rightupinthere wrote:Bullshit. I equate OU's band to McDonald's. Yeah, I'm the immature one. [face palm.]
You know that BG has one of the finest music schools and one that is 10 times that of OU, yes? Why the hell would you want to advertise that elite status with s**t? It makes zero sense from a business perspective.
Next you'll want BG to perform like Stanford's band because "they dress cool."
Gads. Keep pining for those green grasses.

Guys ... seriously ... just appreciate OU's band for what they are. They're a DIFFERENT STYLE of band ... and they do it well! Appreciate the people in there for all the hard work they do for entertaining the crowd. I'm proud of my time in the FMB but that's no reason to not appreciate another band and think they are good. I posted a UofM band video last year on the band forum and the thread turned quickly into a our-band-is-so-much-better-than-your-band thread. Not the point at all ... appreciate another band for the work they do and appreciate a good show, even if it comes from another school. And for God's sake ... LOVE THE FMB!!

Completely agree. Its like I ran in and said "man I really like the color red". And the response was "You are an idiot blue is better!" with no thought of both being good in their own way. If the BG band is such an incredible band, which I have no reason to believe they are not because I am not a band expert, then maybe they can use their incredibleness and come up with a way to play some music that the fans connect to in a unique and fun way without parking and blowing.MarkL wrote:Guys ... seriously ... just appreciate OU's band for what they are. No, you posted another video wanting the FMB to do another band's shtick when it isn't in their DNA. People said they would rather not and you pounded on the table calling those people elitists.Globetrotter wrote: Completely agree. Its like I ran in and said "man I really like the color red". FMB has performed rap song but did so with thought of how it was going to sound and look first.
I do appreciate OU's band much the same way I appreciate the kardashians' popularity through the arts.
