Our name is Walters...

Post by Falconfreak90 »

Really now...got my Falcon Club renewal letter in the mail Wed and the certificate reads "Mike & Dana Walters are supporting members of Bowling Green Falcon Club". I know I don't donate a ton of money to the FC but have been a FC member for years and do whatever I can...with two boys eating us out of house and home, there isn't as much jack as I'd like to send. The name is "Wherley"...

Ya know, next year just make it out to the Freaks...can't mess that up, right?

I've been a member of the Falcon Club since I graduated in 09. I have never gotten a renewal letter, a thank you, a certificate, anything that says I'm a member or acknowledged that I gave money.

I wont be joining next year.

Freak, that's inexcusable.

I was annoyed that mine said:

"Lord Byron" are supporting members. . .

I'm not really sure what the point of the communication was. I find that alot when I get things from organizations, schools, etc. If you know what the purpose of the communication is, then you can do a better job of making sure that it meets that objective.

If the objective of this communication was to create a positive vibe, I think they missed.

The Falcon Club is one of the most piss poorly run organizations I can ever imagine. I gladly dropped my membership before, but then was forced back into a membership to get season tickets where I wanted them in the Stroh.

I have no problem giving money (when feasible) to the athletic department, but the Falcon Club is just awful.

It has been a complete joke for a year or two now. It is just a place to collect money and I agree with hammb, that if it weren't for the Stroh, I would not be a member after 30 plus years. I will drop donations significantly next year.

That is sad considering BG claims to run one of the best Sports Management programs in the country. You would think that the athletic office would be talking to professors to get an idea of who they should hire. It's actually the opposite, from my experiences. I volunteered for a short time and was treated poorly - even by the interns. It's funny in another way as well, because the interns were not even BGSU students. I just hope the athletic office realizes that they have a nice group of possible employees right on campus - they don't have to look far.

Students in the sport management program are not allowed to do internships on-campus, that is why most of the interns in the athletics department do not come from BGSU. My department uses about 8-12 sport management majors in any given semester as volunteers and/or for practicum credit, but once they get to their internship, they are required to do that off-campus to see how other departments operate and to network and create contacts. I, personally, would love to use the sport management students that we teach and train as interns and you are right that we have one of the best sport management programs in the country. But I certainly understand the reasons for our sport management program requiring their students to do internships off-campus.

+1 :-D
"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."
