You know...I'm not a fan of throwing deep right there...but then, I think the days of showing any class in college football are gone

There will still be people giving scenarios of how we can win the East tomorrow

We've been torched by three really good offenses..we've been competitive otherwise. I'm disappointed, but not embarrassed

Or at least the days of not trying to find an excuse for throwing deep.

Backup QB was picking up 12 ypc on his feet... leg it out and run out the clock.

I don't have a problem with that pass at all. Hats off to NIU's staff for letting the kid come in and actually play and not just hand off.

Unfortunately NIU just has better athletes than we do right now.
I agree with you that we're outmanned here, but I would much rather force their QB to make a 30 yard downfield throw consistently than give him 10 yards every time he wants to throw it and much more open field to run when they run the zone read. The 2 long pass plays were just bad reads by the safeties, not necessarily because the corners were in tight coverage.

I didn't see the Temple game, but I assume that we played a bunch of guys in the box because we knew they couldn't hurt us with the pass. NIU has the threats in the run and pass game and it looks like we'd rather give up 15 yards at a time instead of 75.
I agree that you would rather have the QB be accurate down the field then on short passes/screens. I guess he is just more of a conservative thinking coach.

Seems like a long time ago that we had Beck wide open for a TD that would have made it 24-21.

Glad to see Hurley in. Schilz is our guy IMO but Hurley's got to be ready to go. And you never know, he may improve a ton over the offseason and make for a serious QB battle for next year.
