BG v Dayton

Post by BGSUE »

OK.......it's TGIF..... Thank goodness it's Falcons. Who's going to Dayton? Yes I know there's men's bball & hockey at same time at home. They really divided the fan base.

B!G game for the Falcons to open the year. BG usually doesn't play well right at the start of the season, so it'd be great to get off on a good foot but this will be a stern test.

It's a new era of Falcon Women's Basketball.

I'll be at the game. I'm taking my little sister...she'll be wearing UD stuff, I'll be wearing my BG gear.

If you want extra motivation UD is selling Yuengling on draft this year...they also have about 4 others on draft about 10 different kinds in bottles.

Final score 69-38. Dayton played great defense and BG couldn't get into any rhythm. Contrary to what the score may seem, I thought BG played good defense as well and forced a lot of turnovers. They just couldn't convert those turnovers.

BG played a frantic transition game that reminded me of Phoenix from the WNBA (if anyone besides me watches the WNBA :-D ) They tried to get out and score quickly on the fast break - but missed just about everything, hoop, rim, backboard, and passes.

I believe Chrissy Steffan led BG's scorers, but the Live Stats crashed so I don't know for sure. Lex Rogers was in foul trouble most of the game. Jill Stein hit a couple of clutch shots towards the end - I really feel she'll be stepping it up this year.

Time will help this young team grow. I guess we have to start somewhere?

Just got back from the game....

The only good thing was how many BG fans were there....

Hard to tell much about BG, I think they'll be fine in the MAC.

UD is damn good. They returned a lot off a really good NCAA team and Alli Mallot is going to be a star there. They are going to win a lot of games.

31-point defeat on opening night? Ouch.

Well, we kinda knew that this was going to be a transition year, and Dayton is quite formidable. It bugs me that our women never seem to play well right out of the gate though.

Oh well, get em next game ladies!

After watching the game, I thought we played a decent game defensively against a long, experienced, and talented Dayton. Rebounding was AWFUL in the first half, but improved after what I assume was some... motivation from Coach at the intermission. The only thing that really bothered me was our inability to convert open shots. We were able to create space in the Dayton defense, but we didn't convert those opportunities into scoring. Slagle and Havel impressed me on the boards in the second half, and Rogers would have had more of an impact if she hadn't been in early foul trouble. Overall, I'm disappointed in the result, but the sky is definitely not falling. Dayton is a VERY good team, and we are incredibly young. Coach Miller and the staff will have this team playing BGSU basketball sooner rather than later...

Rough night to open the season...and it doesn't get any easier with #17 Purdue coming into the Stroh Thursday night.

Thos that were there...how did Logan Pastor look? She is from Green HS and I was pumped when she signed with BG. Thanks in advance...

Wasn't there but saw some of the second half on the Dayton website and she did not play during that time. However, I am guessing she did not play well from her stat line. 9 minutes, 4 turnovers, 0-3 from the free throw line and missed her only shot from the field. Hope it was just a case of the nerves.
